Matthew 6:13 ESV
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Martin Luther was a great theologian who helped reform the church which led to the church as we know it today.
he once said that he went to be with the forth petition (forgive us our debts) and woke up with the fifth
I think many of us find ours selves in this posture. praying to God forgiveness for the sins of the day but then asking that he may help us in avoiding temptation

Temptation

every single one of us will struggle with temptation of various different kinds
temptation is: the desire to do something that is generally aosicated with a negative or bad action or practice
Matthew 26:41 ESV
41 Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
1 Corinthians 10:13 ESV
13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

Deliver Us

John 17:15 ESV
15 I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one.
Matthew 13:19 ESV
19 When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is what was sown along the path.
