Иоанна 19:28-30
In the last month or so we’ve been celebrating the life of Jesus
His incarnation by the will and desire of God
His circumcision according to the law of God
His naming according to God’s will as revealed to Joseph in a dream
Soon we will remember His dedication (стретение) according to the law
His baptism to fulfill all righteousness
His temptation, in which He was victorious and DID NOT SIN
Even in His last moments, He was living according to God’s will
Псалом 21
In short, Jesus lived an absolutely PERFECT life before God!
No sin, perfect obedience
Why is it so important for us to understand this?
Is Jesus just a perfect example for us to strive for?
Yes, but we had an example in the Law and couldn’t follow that...
So why is His perfect life so important?
Why did He say “совершилось”?
2 Коринфянам 5:20-21
We read that God Himself is “calling/begging” all people to “fix your relationship” with Him
How?!
He’s HOLY and demands PERFECTION
I’m just a lowly SINNER
I can’t live the life Jesus lived!
v. 21- Paul explains the MEANS (СПОСОБ) of reconciliation
“не знавшего греха”: Jesus, with His perfect life
“Он”: God Himself
“сделал для нас жертвою за грех”: He made Him sin or a sin offering!!
Why?!
“чтобы мы в Нем сделались праведными пред Богом”
In the new translation it says: “стать Божьей праведностью”
He made us RIGHTEOUS
There was a trade (обмен) at the cross!
Исаия 53:5: “the punishment of our peace was upon Him”
In the garden of Gethsemane, He wasn’t bothered by death or suffering; He was bothered by the coming displeasure of His Father
From His childhood and through His transfiguration, He was in God’s favor. But not now!
The One who lived a perfect life is punished, so those who lived a sinful life earn His righteous reward.
That is why He said “It is finished!”
The price of sin was PAID IN FULL.
Only sinners receive Christ’s righteousness!
Scribe and tax collector
A righteous person has nothing to gain from Jesus’ death on the cross
Where do we stand? Have we traded at the cross?
