Introduction

MC is an acronym for
Microphone Controller
In the early 1970s, the term MC (master of ceremonies, which in hip hop is sometimes changed to mic controller) became associated with what would change to become known as the rapper in hip-hop / rap music and culture. Originally, the term was simply used as Master of Ceremonies.
Eric B. & Rakim in 1987, during the golden age of hip-hop, on their debut album, Paid in Full, made the acronym for MC:
Move the Crowd
Here's the instruction, put it together It simple ain't it, but quite clever Some of you been tryin' to write rhymes for years But weak ideas, irritate my ears Is this the best that you can make? 'Cause if not, and you got more, I'll wait But don't make me wait too long, 'cause I'mma move on The dance floor, when they put somethin' smooth on So turn up the bass, it's better when it's loud 'Cause I like to move the crowd
Move the crowd Move the crowd Move the crowd Mo-, mo-, move the crowd Move the crowd Move, mo-, mo-, mo-, move the crowd Move, move the crowd Move the crowd
According to songtell.com:
"Move the Crowd" is a song that celebrates the power of hip-hop music and the ability of the rapper to captivate an audience through their skillful lyricism and delivery. The song starts with the speaker feeling a feverish excitement stirred by the beats and rhythms of the music. Rakim talks about how he becomes activated by the music and starts to collaborate rhymes in his mind to make something beautiful. The lyrics are a call to all aspiring rappers to put their best foot forward and create something impactful that will move the crowd. The chorus is a repetition of the phrase "move the crowd" which is a straightforward command to the rapper to control the audience with their words and music.
Overall, "Move the Crowd" is a song about the power of music, particularly the power of hip-hop to move people and inspire them to greater things. Rakim is a master of his craft and he uses his skills to uplift and engage his audience, encouraging them to embrace the positive messages in his lyrics and to have a good time.

Transition To Body- Jesus Moves The Crowd When He Ministers

Body

Balanced Ministry Of Jesus

Matthew 4:23 ESV
23 And he went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction among the people.
(in Jesus’ current neighborhood which he is staying)

Teaching (Truth of Teaching Embraced by Committed Followers/Disciples)

Synagogues were places for Jewish prayer and worship, with recognized leadership
Hosea 4:6 ESV
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.
Hebrews 4:12–13 ESV
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
Hebrews 4:15–16 ESV
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Psalm 119:11 ESV
I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.
Psalm 119:105 ESV
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
Ooh…wee…
Growing saints are learning saints
That means they:
Take notes during the preaching moment
They come to Sunday school
They come to Bible Study
They have personal devotional time between then and Jesus in their homes, at work, and even while driving their automobiles- come on Apple car play and android auto
They even get excited about coming the adult class to learn during Vacation Bible School in the summer
Jesus’ ministry included teaching disciples and those already familiar with his ministry
John 13:13–17 ESV
13 You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. 14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. 15 For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you. 16 Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.
A pastor’s ministry (service to you and others) is not just baptizing them in the name of the Father, the son, and the Holy Spirit, but we also teach unto obedience
Matthew 28:18–20 ESV
18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Pastors Equip Saints for the Work of Ministry

Ephesians 4:11–17 ESV
11 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, 14 so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. 15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love. 17 Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds.

Jesus teaching & preaching-

Sermon on the mount & Jesus is teaching his disciples- for Jesus in chapters 5-7 of Matthew the preaching & teaching are synonymous with one another.
Preview Matthew 5-7

Kingdom living:

Matthew 6:33 ESV
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Preaching (Primacy of Gospel Kingdom-centered Preaching)

These listeners want to hear God speak
So they say,
Come on preacher, make it plain, keep it plain
Is their a word from the LORD today
They have a Priestly Eli & Prophet Samuel Spirit:
1 Samuel 3:6–10 ESV
6 And the Lord called again, “Samuel!” and Samuel arose and went to Eli and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” But he said, “I did not call, my son; lie down again.” 7 Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord, and the word of the Lord had not yet been revealed to him. 8 And the Lord called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” Then Eli perceived that the Lord was calling the boy. 9 Therefore Eli said to Samuel, “Go, lie down, and if he calls you, you shall say, ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant hears.’ ” So Samuel went and lay down in his place. 10 And the Lord came and stood, calling as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant hears.”
Preaching- proclamation that is divine in origin or relates to divinity
John 1:1–2 ESV
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God.
Jesus the Preacher
Luke 4:42–44 ESV
42 And when it was day, he departed and went into a desolate place. And the people sought him and came to him, and would have kept him from leaving them, 43 but he said to them, “I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns as well; for I was sent for this purpose.” 44 And he was preaching in the synagogues of Judea.

Healing is Holistic

θεραπεύω
Heal, restore
senses of ‘care for, wait upon, treat medically’)
Healing physical, emotional, and spiritual infirmities
Preview Matthew 8-9
Jesus Healed every infirmity
Nothing is beyond Jesus’ power to heal
In the very, the adjective “very” is related, placing extra emphasis on Jesus’ unlimited power to heal.
Matthew 13:58 ESV
58 And he did not do many mighty works there, because of their unbelief.
Matthew chapter 10- now the apostles or disciples can do what Jesus did!

Healing prayers is the righteous:

James 5:13–16 ESV
13 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.
Jesus combined ministry that met people’s physical needs with ministry to their minds and hearts proclaiming the gospel (good news) of the kingdom.

Heralded Ministry Of Jesus

Matthew 4:24 ESV
24 So his fame spread throughout all Syria, and they brought him all the sick, those afflicted with various diseases and pains, those oppressed by demons, those having seizures, and paralytics, and he healed them.
Fame- that which is heard
fame, report, rumor
Spread- to move from a ref. point, of pers. or things
Herald- an official crier or messenger
one that precedes or foreshadows
one that conveys news or proclaims
People are proclaiming the good news concerning Jesus
People brought the sick to Jesus for healing
Brought- προσφέρω
to bring someone or someth. to someone, bring

Expanding Ministry Of Jesus

Matthew 4:25 ESV
25 And great crowds followed him from Galilee and the Decapolis, and from Jerusalem and Judea, and from beyond the Jordan.
Great crowds are following Jesus everywhere he goes!
The great crowds that followed Jesus had responded in some sense to his teaching and healing ministry but had not yet become his disciples

Crowds:

a casual gathering of large numbers of people without reference to classification crowd, throng
Crowds- a large mass of people, without ref. to status or circumstances leading to its composition,
a gathering of people that bears some distinguishing characteristic or status.
a group or company of people with common interests or of distinctive status a large number (company, throng
Where does Jesus go?
Where ought Jesus followers go?

The Power That Comes Out Jesus

Luke 6:17–19 ESV
17 And he came down with them and stood on a level place, with a great crowd of his disciples and a great multitude of people from all Judea and Jerusalem and the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon, 18 who came to hear him and to be healed of their diseases. And those who were troubled with unclean spirits were cured. 19 And all the crowd sought to touch him, for power came out from him and healed them all.

Is the Report Regarding Jesus Going Out

Luke 5:15 ESV
15 But now even more the report about him went abroad, and great crowds gathered to hear him and to be healed of their infirmities.

Transition To Close

In his book, “The Centrality of the Church: Practicing the Ways of God with the People of God,”
Tony Evans writes I quote:
“Weak churches leave little impact. Your role is to create the environment where your church not only grows and develops strong members through the process of discipleship but also equips your members to make individual as well as collective impact.”
In Tony Evans other book, “Our Witness to the World: Equipping the Church for Evangelism and Social Impact” he goes one to write:
“When you see the mainstream culture deteriorating, look closer, and you will probably see a people of God who have withdrawn from the culture and turned it over to the unrighteous to rule. A divided culture can only reflect one thing: a divided church. And by “divided,” I’m not just talking about division along racial, cultural or class lines. Unfortunately, the division looms much larger than that. In our post-modern culture today, we are often divided on doctrine, mission, vision, and outreach as well. “
Consider the following two Barna research studies and 1 pew research study:
• Over half of all Americans believe Jesus sinned while on earth (52%)1
• Nearly half (47%) of Christian Millennials (those born in 1984–1988) agree that “it is wrong to share one’s personal beliefs with someone of a different faith in hopes that they will one day share the same faith.”2
• 52% of US Protestants believe that faith alone is not enough for salvation, but rather ascribe to faith and good works as the way into heaven.3
So:
We must go!
We must baptize!
We must teach!

Paul said in Romans chapter 10:

Romans 10:8–17 ESV
8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); 9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. 11 For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. 13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” 14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” 16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?” 17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

Close- Jesus Commanded His Committed Followers to Go Move the Crowd!

Epilogue
