We start every year out with fasting and prayer. One reason that we do this is so that we can hear from God. Laura and me will always ask what He wants for this year. We were thinking about the GO part of our statement. While we in Branson for a couple of days, we saw the show Esther at Sight and Sound Theater. Awesome show. A great story as well, but in this story one thing stood out to me...
For if you remain silent at this time, protection and deliverance for the Jews will be ordained from some other place, but you and your father’s house shall be destroyed. And who knows if you may have attained royal position for such a time as this?”
Who knows if you were not here for such a time as this? It’s out of this thought and prayer that we landed with “You Were Made For This!”.
Our God is not some uninvolved distant being. He is intimately involved in every part of our lives. It is not by some happen stance that your here right now. In this world, in this nation, in this state, in this city, in this family, and in your home for such a time as this. You were made for the who, what, when and where you are right now. You were made for this!
For I know the plans that I have for you, says the Lord, plans for peace and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
God knew exactly what He was doing. How many times have sat asking why? What am I supposed to be doing with this life that you’ve given me? Doesn’t it drive us crazy when we tell our kids something to do and they ask “Why?”. Then when they don’t do what we asked them to they say “I didn’t here you say that!”. Somehow if we don’t realize that we were made for this, this is the conversation that we’ll want to have before that great white throne judgement.
He said to them, “Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved. But he who does not believe will be condemned. These signs will accompany those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; if they drink any deadly thing, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
You were made to go! You were made to follow Jesus wherever He may lead you! We were made for this. You were made to preach this gospel, you were made to teach this gospel, you were made to heal the sick, you were made to do the works Jesus did and more!
I don’t believe we still need to be asking who, what, when, where and why. I believe most of the time we know, we just have to realize we were made for this and go. It doesn’t matter where or what I’m coming from, my call is to GO. Obviously, it’s not always perfect. Getting saved doesn’t always erase the consequinces of my sinful desicions. Surrendering and giving my heart to Jesus does finally get me on the right track.
We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
He’s not looking for perfection! He’s looking for those that know who they are and what the were made for. He’s looking for those that will GO. Listen, the only way you’re going to mess this up is…to not GO! To reject His plan for you’re life, to say no.
He has called you, HE will equip you. He will not let you down.
Now to Him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you blameless before the presence of His glory with rejoicing, to the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen.
Do you trust Him. You come from a long line of those that said yes...
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Do you trust Him?
By faith they passed through the Red Sea as on dry land, which the Egyptians attempted to do, but were drowned.
By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they were encircled for seven days.
By faith the prostitute Rahab, when she received the spies with peace, did not perish with those who did not believe.
And what more shall I say? For time would fail me to tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets, who through faith subdued kingdoms, administered justice, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in fighting, and turned the armies of foreign enemies to flight. Women received their dead raised to life again. Others were tortured and did not accept deliverance, so that they might obtain a better resurrection.
Every great exploit in the scripture happened by faith in the One that sent them!
Therefore, since we are encompassed with such a great cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us. Let us look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and your hearts give up.
You have not yet resisted to bloodshed while striving against sin.
Of all the things I may question in this life, and there are many. I will never question that He has called me and sent me for such a time as this! I WAS MADE FOR THIS!
