It is through God's oversight of life's various seasons that the purpose of our existence is established. We are reminded that our times, from the beginning of life to its end, are in God's hands, and everything in between is subject to His divine plan. The text emphasizes that God's control extends to every aspect of our lives, including our emotions, possessions, ambitions, relationships, and even our nation. By acknowledging God's control of time, we are reminded that everything we experience is happening according to His plan, giving us the peace of mind to navigate life's ups and downs.

The New Bible Commentary Ecclesiastes 3:1–8
There is purposefulness in life because of God’s oversight of its seasons
Our world is subject to constant changes, with events and conditions of human life continually passing and repassing. However, it is important to keep in mind that every change is determined by a supreme power, and we should therefore adapt ourselves to His purposes. In order to find true pleasure in life, we must make good use of the things that God has given us and strive to be of service to those around us.

1. we must walk in wisdom
Wisdom is a valuable trait that requires both knowledge and the ability to apply it effectively. It involves demonstrating good and righteous conduct, kindness, faithfulness, and loyalty. To attain wisdom, one can pursue education, observe others, study nature, and listen to the advice of parents. In contrast, sin is the opposite of wisdom and leads to folly. It is important to cultivate wisdom in our lives to make better decisions and lead a fulfilling life.
13 If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom. 14 But if you are bitterly jealous and there is selfish ambition in your heart, don’t cover up the truth with boasting and lying. 15 For jealousy and selfishness are not God’s kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic. 16 For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind. 17 But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere. 18 And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness.
Fear of the Lord is the beginning of walking into Godly wisdom
The function of this section is to call us to a view of God’s sovereignty, which both reassures and yet sobers the reader. It reassures because of God’s control, yet it sobers because God’s control remains mysterious.
