Matthew 6:9–15 ESV
9 Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. 10 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread, 12 and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. 14 For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, 15 but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
We will look back just minute at two weeks ago when we started the series of understanding Gods will. We read the list of sinful things to avoid and the fruit of the spirit that we should lean towards in searching out Gods will
This week will look at how it was Gods will to create and dominate.. i dont really mean dominate but we do know God will have dominion but He allows His kingdom to have advancements. Spiritually, physically, mentally, technologically.
Lets look at creation for just a minute. We are all pretty familiar with the story of creation.
John 1:1 ESV
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
We have the creation story but in order to understand Gods will directed more towards us we will look at human creation.
Genesis 1:26–31 ESV
26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. 28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” 29 And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food. 30 And to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the heavens and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so. 31 And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.
We are to be fruitful and multiply, subdue the earth, and have dominion.
Subdue here does not mean an unruly condition because remember God did say it was very good. It speaks of a productive ordering of the earth and its inhabitants to yield its riches and accomplish God’s purposes. God gave the earth a perfect order and its been our job to not mess it up. I dont believe we have messed it up. We still have food to eat, water to drink, oxygen, land, etc etc. are we on our way to the end of all that? Maybe? Politics would say yes. We have and we are and still accomplishing Gods purposes.
Daniel 2:44 ESV
44 And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that shall never be destroyed, nor shall the kingdom be left to another people. It shall break in pieces all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, and it shall stand forever,
Gods kindom will stand forever, His will is for generations (40) upon generations to do good and keep it going until His sons return.
Psalm 110:1 ESV
1 The Lord says to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.”
1 Corinthians 3:7 ESV
7 So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.
so we have seen ups and downs, ebbs and flows,
Colossians 1:16–17 ESV
16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
Gods will to create wasnt just a singular event, its a continuous thread woven throughout history. We see it through the changing of seasons, we hear it through the chirping of the birds, His power by the fury of storms, His fingerprints are on every beating heart, grain of sand and mountain peak
Creation was and is part of Gods nature and His will.
