Acts 21:4 KJV 1900
4 And finding disciples, we tarried there seven days: who said to Paul through the Spirit, that he should not go up to Jerusalem.
Acts 21:10–14 KJV 1900
10 And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judaea a certain prophet, named Agabus. 11 And when he was come unto us, he took Paul’s girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles. 12 And when we heard these things, both we, and they of that place, besought him not to go up to Jerusalem. 13 Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus. 14 And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done.
Title: What do you do with the Prophet and the prophecy?
Many fear the prophet…
Mostly those who are not living right…
Many ignore the prophet because of ignorance or pain.
Many don’t know what to do with prophecy.
Look at our text… was the prophet wrong?
Was Paul wrong in die early?
General rules for prophecy:
The local pastor is the gatekeeper/valve for the Gifts of the Spirit.
If someone gives you a word, if you have a dream, impartation - your fist stop should always be your pastor.
Seen times when people were given a prophetic word in part!
Seen times when people were given a wrong word and lost years of life and ministry because it was not properly vetted
Seen people reject the impossible but true word of prophecy.
This is why the Office of Pastor is the highest authority in the local church
Don’t fear prophecy
Direction, correction and illumination are good
Note: if you have to be publically corrected, you have missed a lot of private correction!
God does not want to embarrass you!
Prophecy is not law
You have to do your part
Prophecy must be judged
1 Corinthians 14:29 KJV 1900
29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.
I judge every public word as true!
