You’ve probably heard the term teachable. The idea of being able to let go of what you already know and allow something or someone else show you a potentially better way to do something. Relating this to clay, fresh, moist clay is more teachable than clay that has been out in world for a while. Human beings aren’t so static. Instead of being stuck in one form or another, we can choose to be soft clay, willing to be shaped by skilled hands. Or we can choose to be hard clay, unwilling to budge. It will be a lot easier to choose the former when you trust the hands doing the shaping.
