7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.
You know when the apostles walked with Jesus, i believe at that time they were not saved, the were saved after Jesus died on the cross, resurrected and at His first meeting with them, He said to them recieve the Holy spirit, at that instance, the were save. So now with the holy spirit in them, they demonstrated.
Power
Love
sound mind or self control
They demonstated power by the power in which the preached the gospel.
they demonstrated love by how the came together as one, and the bible says people who had properties sold the brought the money and they shared among themself equally.
The demonstrated sound mind at by the liberty at which they served the Lord.
Now they were given the Holy Spirit. in the same manner when one is born again, is given the Holy spirit, that is the assurance of our salvation.
Read Eph. 1:13
13 And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago.
Having established this, now we know the Sprit in which we have recieved give us power, love and of a sound mind, and this all that we need to be a libery to serve theh Lord,
17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
Now Paul said we have not been given the spirit of fear, why did he say that, Paul know fear supresses the power in us, it takes the libert at which to serve the lord, fear puts us in bondage. There is power at which to operate when we recieved the holy spirit but fear supresses it.
