Review: 4 Points Week one

1. God calls and enables His children to be a witness for Him!

2. The believer’s role in witnessing for Christ!

Verse 19: We must respond obediently to God’s call.

3. What the message is:

Verse 20: We preach/tell people that they should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds.

* The main reason Paul was in prison was the resurrection of Christ!

4. The goal of Evangelism/witnessing:

Verse 18a: Their eyes are opened; they turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God (people are saved!)

Review 5 Points Last Week:

1. We can not control how non-believers will react to the Gospel

2. Speak the Words of Truth with reason

3. Convection is if the Lord

4. Our desire should be that everyone we witness to comes to saving faith in Christ

5. The lost will not understand us. What we do, what we say, how we act

Opening: I said last week was the conclusion....oops! I spoke out of turn!

All while Paul is under arrest......our circumstances do not limit us, WHEN WE ARE IN HIS WILL!

We all have a race that God sets us on! Look to Hebrews 12:1

We are to set aside anything that will trip us up on this course. Including that sin or sins in your life that you are easily venerable to.

Let’s pick up in Acts 27 the race that Paul has been given and learn more from him. Lets notice what God is doing! Through Pauls obedience God is accomplishing His purpose in many areas and individuals. Sometimes we miss this!

Remember that Paul has just won his all expense paid trip to Rome courtesy of the Roman Government!!

Context: Paul is not alone! Luke is with him and Aristarchus - There was also a centurion named Julius (unknown if he was a believer or not) he took good care of Paul

On their cruse trip they had many stops, some planned some not so much...

Look at verse 3: We see they docked at Sidon- There was a christian community there- Julius allowed his prisoner, Paul, to go ashore and visit with fellow believers so they could provide for his needs. God at work! God will do the same for you! He has promised to provide for your needs. *There is a difference from a need and a want…just saying!

Verse 6: The centurion Julius place Paul and his friends on a larger ship, maybe because of server headwinds. This was an Alexandrian Ship, (Egypt a type of the world) this ship had 276 passengers on board! Acts 27:37 (God at work)

**Paul gives them a warning of the conditions that they were in. Remember Paul had been through several ship wrecks and knew what to expect!

Lesson here: As we run our race and we encounter our shipwrecks we should learn from them, God’s faithfulness, His strength, His Mercy, His Grace! This God sanctifying process! To mature us in our faith!

They ignore Paul’s warning! We can not control peoples reactions.....

Review conditions in verses: 13-20 Hurricane conditions, tossed to and fro. No Sun or stars could be seen for days! All hope had been lost by the passengers that they would survive!

Paul's Calmness in the midst of the storm: This is not his first rodeo Remember!

Lesson: Mature Christians should remain calm in the midst of our storms! Let’s look: Acts 27:21-26

1. Christ is always there with us! 2. Our calmness comes from Christ! (DO NOT BE AFRAID) 3. Believe Paul Did: verse 25

God working again: MAKING HIMSELF KNOWN TO THOSE ABOARD THE SHIP

** STILL THEY REACTED WITH PANIC! VERSES 29-38

GOD STILL WORKING: HIS PROTECTION ONCE AGAIN- PAUL VINDICATED: ALL ESCAPED SAFELY GOD STILL REVEALING HIMSELF: LOOK GUYS! I’M GOD!

* We will continue next Sunday in Chapter 28
