Jesus is the physical manifestation of God.
John 1:1 NKJV
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:14 NKJV
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 14:9b (NKJV)
He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
John 5:19 NKJV
Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.
This is so important because whatever we see Jesus do is a direct picture of what God does.
Our God (Jesus) is not enough, He is too much!

Examples:

Woman with the jar of oil - vessels ran out (2 Kings 4)
Israelites freed from Egypt - freed & made rich (Exodus 12)
Feeding of the 5,000 - 12 baskets leftover (Matthew 14)
Feeding of the 4,000 - 7 baskets leftover (Matthew 15)
Wedding at Cana - best wine though last (John 2)
Paralytic man - healed & forgiven (Luke 5)
Every sickness & every disease healed (Matthew 9, Luke 4, Luke 5, Acts 10)
Philippians 4:19 NKJV
And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Supply (G 4137) = (Lit.) to cram; level up

The problem:

Malachi 3:10 NKJV
Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.
God is so much that there isn’t enough room to receive all He gives.
With God - Supply is not the issue, the capacity to receive it is.
It’s like trying to drink water from a fire hose!
Ephesians 3:14–20 NKJV
For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height—to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,

We choke on the love of God.

God doesn’t just give love, God IS love.
When we cannot understand how God can possibly love us so much so we have a difficult time receiving the full extent of His love for us.
We would live our lives differently if we could simply receive how much God loves us!

We Choke on the Forgiveness of God

We don’t “deserve” forgiveness & can’t earn forgiveness, but He gives it completely. God is not like people.
When we cannot understand how complete God’s forgiveness is, we have a hard time receiving complete forgiveness - we will hold onto things that God isn’t holding against us.
-We can’t receive the amount of forgiveness He has poured out…COMPLETE
When God put the sins of the world upon Jesus, He said, “It is finished.”

We Choke on the Grace of God.

Grace is -
1. God’s divine ability
2. Undeserved favor
3. The divine impression on the heart and its reflection in the life
When we can’t receive the amount of Grace that God is pouring out, we continue to live like we just have a little bit of God’s Divine Ability when we have access to it all!
The same reception problem goes for :
Righteousness
Favor
Peace
Joy
Provision
Healing
Psalm 103:1–5 NKJV
Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
We can’t fathom the excessiveness of God.
Faith is the only conduit big enough to receive everything that God has given to us.
Faith is simply believing God over everything else!

Just One Thing:

Jesus is never not enough…He is too much!

Discussion Questions:

What do you do to make the world a better place?
In what ways do you think you can create space to receive more from God’s “excessive” goodness?
Please read Ephesians 3:14-20 and share what this passage means & says to you.
What areas of your life do you find that you have the hardest time receiving the “too much” of God in?
