New Things for Believers
Revelation 21:5
And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
INTRO: Everybody likes new things. Children like new toys, new shoes, new dresses, and new bicycles—Preachers like new suits, new dresses, new cars, new homes.
And God has provided for us many new things that far out weigh all of these things.
I. A NEW LIFE —
2 Corinthians 5:17
A. “Therefore if any man be in Christ he is a new creature [new creation], old things are passed away all things are become new.
“When God made [created] man he created him in His very own image”
Genesis 1:26
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
Genesis 2:7
7 “He formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the Breath of life; and man became a living soul”
B. Under the dispensation of grace, every born-again believer is a new creature in Christ.
He is not a patched up , or a rejuvenated old man, but a new creation; Born again fresh from the hand of God. He makes all things new.
C. Paul said; Galatians 2:20
I am crucified (Dead) with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Colossians 3:1 If ye then be risen(alive) with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
When Christ was ascended and seated on the right hand of God, we were seated with Him.
We are there in Him today, accepted in the Beloved.
D. “And hath raised us up together and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ” (Ephesians 2:6 ). Our head is in heaven and we (His body) are in Him.
E. Though our bodies may be dragged through the tribulations and trials of this world down here, we praise God that nothing can drown the Body as long as the head is above water.
II. We Have A New AND Living Way—
Hebrews 10: 19-23
19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
21 And having an high priest over the house of God;
22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil(carnal) conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
A. Here He shows us we can enter into the Holy of Holies, by a new and living way.
We can pray and worship for ourselves.
We need no man’s assistance!
No need for a priest to go into the Holy of Holies for us. No sacrifice because he is the sacrificial lamb that taketh away the sins of the world.
We can come to Him ourselves
Hebrews 4:16
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
B. The middle wall of separation is broken down.
Ephesians 2:14 “For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us …”
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man cometh to the Father but by me” (John 14:6).
Old way— the law; the new way thru grace by faith.
The old way is the way of death.
The new way is the way of life. 1 John 5:12
“He that hath the Son hath life and he that hath not the Son hath not life”.
C. 1 Peter 2:9
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
D. Last time I went to California the highways were like parking lots.they were so crowded!
But On the highway of holiness, the new and living way, the traffic is light.
III. A NEW COMMANDMENT— AND A NEW LOVE
John 13:34-35
34 “A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another, as I have loved you,
that ye love one another.
35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples if ye have love one to another”
B. “Let brotherly love continue” Hebrews 13:1
Don’t impede the flow of Gods love; don’t stop it; and don’t diminish it don’t hold back . Let it continue!
C. 1 John 3:18
“My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue, but in deed and in truth”
1 John 4:11
“Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another” .
Did you know you are even commanded by Jesus to love our enemies;
Matthew 5:43-48
43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. OT
44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; NT
45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. NT
46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
IV. A NEW NAME—
Revelation 2:17
A. “To him that overcometh, will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.”
B. White stone! White is the color of heaven. White stones, white robes, white clouds, white horses, white throne. White is the symbol of purity.
C. In old testament times the judges would give a black stone to the condemned, and a white stone to the one acquitted. This is the white stone of acquittal.
D. This white stone was given to returning victors from the battle.
It was an admission ticket to the banquet. It was also a badge of friendship and alliance.
The stone was at times used as a binding contract between two people.
An agreement was written on the stone and then was broken in half.
Then each person received his half as assurance that the contract would be valid and binding.
E. Notice; on the stone A new name!
God gave some men new names while they lived here on earth.
Abarm-Abraham, Jacob- Israel, Saul- Paul, etc.
On that day every overcomer will receive a new name.
V. A NEW SONG— Revelation 5:9–10
A. “And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: For thou wast slain, and hath redeemed us to God by thy blood out of all kindred, and tongue, and people, and nations; and hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on earth.” This is the Song of Redemption! The song of the Redeemed!
B. The new song is about Christ. All praise and honor will be His and His alone.
No man, No preacher will strut into heaven and boast of what he has done.
C. Angels and all the hosts of heaven will join in praising and adoring Him.
All will be able to sing In perfect harmony on that day. That will be a miracle in itself!
VI. A NEW HEAVEN AND A NEW EARTH—
Revelation 21:1–4
And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
A. “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the Holy City, New Jerusalem, coming down.
B. The scene changes! The millennium is over! After one thousand (1,000) years of singing the new song, now comes the “Grand Finale.”
C. A new home for new creatures to sing new songs.
We are not told much about our new home If all was told, the earthly life would be unbearable.
D. But enough is revealed, to make us homesick for heaven.
“There will be no more tears, no more death, no more sorrow, or crying, neither shall there be any more pain: For the former things are passed away.”
REV. 21:23 “And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it and the Lamb is the light thereof.
Rev. 22:4-5 NEW LIGHT
“And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads, and there shall be no night there, and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever”
VII. ALL THINGS NEW— Revelation 21:5
A. “And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold I make all things new.”
At Calvary He began the new work. Here, now,
He makes all things new.
B. Today we live in an age of destruction. Nations are trying to destroy each other. No one knows what will be next. This old world is doomed!
This I do know! THAT All the works of men will fail.
Only a New home will be a fit habitation for the redeemed. His new creation
C. This day is near! Even at the door!
It is our blessed hope
Titus 2:13
Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
He comes to make all things new. The writing is on the wall. It is unmistakable.
CONCLUSION: When the storm breaks, we shall see him and meet Him in the air
And what a blessed day that will be!
1 Thessalonians 4:16–18 (KJV 1900)
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
