How to finish stronger then you started

Matthew 21:28 KJV 1900
But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard.
Matthew 21:29 KJV 1900
He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went.
Matthew 21:30 KJV 1900
And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not.
Matthew 21:31 (KJV 1900)
Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them ( they were Pharisees with vicious intent ), Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.
Jesus reveals the intention of the Pharisees is what will hinder them from entering the Kingdom if God. (the kingdom of heaven is the place the Kingdom of God is in your heart.)
Matthew 21:32 KJV 1900
For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.
What a powerful lesson Jesus taught about two sons and their father…
Often in the scriptures we think of the story of the two sons the prodigal son story of Luke 15. And so this is the forgotten sons and the father story...
This story is just as powerful… to receive into your spirit…
I think we can all agree as we go through this teaching that within our own lives there is always room for improvement.
And thought things seem as they are right now, things can always get better…
We can finish stronger then we are right now…
The two sons represent two directions life can take you.
The father said to both of the sons,” go into the field and work.”
the Father represents God, the field is the world the harvest field
And He said to His sons,” go into the field and work.”
To one of His sons he said go and the Bible said,” he went not.” (v30)
(response of the son) I’ll do it dad lets go I’m in… but when the dad looked out he wasn’t in the field.
The second boy had and attitude and said,” I will not go.” but the scripture said later he repented and did the will of the Father…(v29)
TWO PATHWAYS TWO RESPONSIBILITIES FOR EVERY PERSON UNDER THE SOUND OF MY VOICE...
You have two possibilities…
The one son is an example of someone who started out well…
“I’ m in, I’ll serve you, I’ll worship you, I’ll work in the church, I’ll work in the field, I’ll work in the harvest, I’ll use my talents my gifts my resources, I’ll do the will of God I’m going to be a part of the harvest…
I’m going to sell my life out for your work. And your will.
He started out well with the right intentions, beginning the right way.
But then along the way something happened, he began to be distracted
He made the promise, he started, but along the way he lost his way and somehow he fell away.
There is more then one way to get lost.
Luke 15. talks about 3 lost things. It shows us the 3 ways that people can be lost.
There was the lost sheep there was the lost son and there was the lost coin. Not all are the same kind of lost.
1st one is the lost sheep… it was lost because it wondered away.
it didn’t intend to get lost. It just kept nibbling.
And it got away and got some distance between the sheep and the shepherd… and it just started wondering further and further away…
And somehow it looked up and seen all the other sheep are gone and everything looked confused and it was lost and it was in wolf country.
it didn’t even know how it got there.
It is one thing to do something intentional, but today there are people who are lost that have just wondered off…
they go to church… they’re sheep they’re not a goat, it’s possible for the sheep to wonder, to drift further and further and further all the way out onto the turf of the enemy...
… HAVE YOU EVER BEEN LOST?…
When you realize and get going back the right direction it is a wonderful feeling…
this is how a lost sheep feels. It got lost wondering away, it didn’t mean to get lost, they didn’t ever like being lost...
And that’s how you know if you’re a sheep or not… if you like being lost… if you like your world and your sin and all the stuff that you’re doing...
More then you love the church. The Truth is you’re either a sheep or a goat Jesus said,” if you are a sheep you don’t like being lost.”
And when you hear a message like this you want to get back quick into the shepherds arms
People who are not sheep, they are not saved, they don’t want to get back they’re okay living their life far from God.
That means you’re not a sheep you’re a goat and if you don’t repent.
you are going to die and go to hell. (we need straight preaching we don’t have time for games.)
It’s something in your nature … heres how you know if you’re a sheep. . . something in you if you feel yourself drifting and you hear the call of the shepherd it instantly ( even though i have drifted, even though I have gone far away and I’m nibbling in this pasture where there’s wolves.) I want to get back!
If you don’t have a want to something is wrong with your soul.
