Gratitude over taking for granted

Okay, for todays lesson, we are going to learn about gratitude. Who here, can describe to me what ‘gratitude” is?

gratitude is to be thankful

So, do you ever think of something, look at someone, or go somewhere that you realize you are thankful for or are you always grumpy and not very grateful?

Why do you think it is important to be grateful?

1 Thessalonians 5:18 “Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”

So what does that tell us?! It tells us that for us to be thankful (grateful) in all circumstances is Gods will for us! Meaning Gods calls us to be thankful!

But why?! Why do we have to be grateful??

James 1:17 “Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.”

Because God gave us these things. Its like getting what you always wanted for your birthday. Your thankful for getting that gift! Right? And God gave us the best gift of all.....which was??? ( Jesus) So…be grateful, dont be sour pusses. Have gratitude, because God has given you great things! Look around, look at the shoes on your feet, look at your family, breath in and out....God has given all you need....so be grateful!

Sticks game - Have the kids spread out mid room. Cannot move their feet. I throw colorful sticks everywhere. One at a time, each kid has to pick up a stick without hitting another stick. If they do then they lose a turn.

Red - Name a person youre thankful for

Orange - Name a place you are thankful for

Green - name a food your thankful for

Blue - Name a thing youre thankful for

Purple - Name anything you choose!
