Introduction

The assignment that I have before me on today is not an easy one but it is one that I have graciously accepted. Thanks be to God our Father from whom all blessings flow. My assignment on today is to talk about Power and Authority and why we need both in order to be effective in the kingdom of God. I have just a few verses that I will rehearse into your hearing on today to aid us in our discussion.
Yes I said discussion because the more you talk to me, the more the Lord will reveal himself to you on today. This word wasn’t sent to make you feel good, this word was sent to open our eyes, reposition us, and put us back in our rightful place as Kingdom Citizens. As citizens of the kingdom we have been awarded certain rights, privileges, and prestige that have been afforded to us through the life, death, burial, and resurrection of our lord and savior Jesus Christ.
Power is defined as: The ability to do things, by virtue of strength, skill, resources, or authorization.
Authority is defined as: power to influence or command thought, opinion, or behavior.
Acts 1:8 NLT
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Power doesn’t come until we have received the Holy Spirit.
