A. The Paradox of Sovereignty and Human Freedom
A. The Paradox of Sovereignty and Human Freedom
1. The tension between God's control and human responsibility
1. The tension between God's control and human responsibility
Divine sovereignty doesn't destroy human responsibility and turn humans into robots “to men belongs the plans of the heart, but from the Lord comes the reply of the tongue” Prov 16:1
That means the final outcome of the plans we make is in God's hands. if this is so, why make plans? in doing God's will, there must be partnership between our efforts and God's control. He wants us to use our minds, to seek the advice of others, and to plan. Nevertheless, the results are up to him. Planning, then, helps us act God's way. As you live for him, ask for guidance as you plan, and then act on your plan as you trust in Him.
God expects us to study, think, weigh possibilities, and make decisions, but we dare “not lean on our own understanding” Proverbs 3:5. God promises to give wisdom to those who ask James 1:5 and to direct those who are willing to obey Proverbs 3:5-6.
The sovereignty of God is one of the greatest motivation for Christian Life and service, because we know that God is on the throne and controls all things. His Commandments are his enablement, and “we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to his purpose” Romans 8:28.
Instead of being a deterrent to evangelism, and understanding of Define sovereignty is a stimulus to biblical evangelism; for we are sure that God is “taking out” a “people for his name” Acts 15:14, Acts 18:1-11, and that “his word will not return void” Isaiah 55:10-11
God is” not willing that any should perish” 2nd Peter 3:9 but desires all people to be saved first Timothy 2:4, and Jesus commanded us to go into all the world with the message of salvation. our task is to obey and share the message; his responsibility is to save those who believe.
Although God is all powerful and all knowing and sovereign he has chosen to let us help him change the world through our prayers. how this works is a mystery to us because our limited understanding, but it is a reality. Paul urges us to pray for each other and for our leaders in government. our Earnest prayers will have powerful results. James 5:16.
V4 - Both Peter and Paul said that God wants all to be saved 2nd Peter 3:9. this does not mean that all will be saved, because the Bible makes it clear that many reject Christ Matthew 25:31 to 46; John 12 44 to 50; Hebrews 10:26 to 29.
the gospel message has a universal scope, it is not directed only to people of One race, one sex, or one nation background. God loves the whole world and sent his son to save sinners. never assume that anyone is outside God's mercy or beyond the reach of his offer of salvation.
A.W. Tozer - “How I figured this out and I'd like to give it to you and I like to give you this thought. And see what you think of it. God’s sovereignty means Gods absolute freedom, Means God absolutely free to do anything he wants to do or Wills to do anywhere, anytime, forever. A man's Free Will means that man can make any choice she wants to he makes, even if he makes a choice agints the will of God. God All mighty is sovereign, he is free to do as he pleases, and among the things he please to do, is to give me freedom to do what I please, and when I do what I please I am fulfilling the will of God not controverting it for God has in his sovereignty sovereingly giving me freedom to make a free choice, even if the choice I make is not the one God would have made for me, he's sovereignty is fulfilled in my making the choice and I can make the choice because God said the “great Sovereign God who is completely free” said to me now in my sovereign Freedom I'd be so little bit of freedom on you, now choose you this day with whom you will serve, be good or be bad, at your own pleasure, follow me or don't follow me, come on or go back, go to heaven or go to hell, that in your lap and You've got make your choice.”
