Romans 12:2 – Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. . . . (New Living Translation)

Three Reasons Resetting My Life Must Begin with Changing My Mindset

1. Because my thoughts directs my life

Proverbs 4:23 – Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts. (Good News Bible)

Proverbs 23:7 – For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. . . . (New King James Version)

2. Because my struggles happen in my mind

James 4:1 – But about the feuds and struggles that exist among you - where do you suppose they come from? Can't you see that they arise from conflicting passions within yourselves? (Phillips Translation)

Romans 7:22-24 – 22 I love to do God’s will so far as my new nature is concerned; 23 but there is something else deep within me, in my lower nature, that is at war with my mind and wins the fight and makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. In my mind I want to be God’s willing servant, but instead I find myself still enslaved to sin. (The Living Bible)

3. Because my mind is where God’s Word works in me

Ephesians 4:23-24 – 23 Let the Spirit change your way of thinking 24 and make you into a new person. You were created to be like God, . . . (Contemporary English Version)

Romans 8:6 – So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. (New Living Translation)

Three Daily Choices for Resetting My Mind

1. Everyday I must choose to ___________ my mind

Philippians 4:8 – Finally, my friends, keep your minds on whatever is true, pure, right, holy, friendly, and proper. Don’t ever stop thinking about what is truly worthwhile and worthy of praise. (Contemporary English Version)

Proverbs 15:14 – A wise person is hungry for truth, while the fool feeds on trash. (New Living Translation, 1st ed.)

Question: Am I being wise or am I being foolish with what I allow in my mind?

Matthew 4:4 – [Jesus said] “. . . ‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” (New Living Translation)

Question: Am I feeding my soul everyday with God’s Word?

Isaiah 40:8 – “The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever.” (New Living Translation)

1 John 2:17 – The world and everything that people want in it are passing away, but the person who does what God wants lives forever. (New Century Version)

Question: Do I pay more attention to temporary information or to the eternal truth of God?

John 8:31-32 – So Jesus said . . . , “If you continue to obey my teaching, you are truly my followers. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” (New Century Version)

Question: Would Jesus say I am a disciple?

Follow-up Question: Is my media consumption creating freedom or frustration?

Psalm 119:97 – Oh, how I love your instructions! I think about them all day long. (New Living Translation)

2. Everyday I must choose to ___________ my mind from destructive thoughts

Romans 8:5 – Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. (New Living Translation)

Romans 7:23 – However, I see a different standard ⌊at work⌋ throughout my body. It is at war with the standards my mind sets and tries to take me captive to sin’s standards which still exist throughout my body. (God’s Word Translation)

2 Corinthians 2:11 – I did this [forgiving a certain person] so that Satan would not win anything from us, because we know very well what Satan’s plans are. (New Century Version)

1 John 2:16 – For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. (New Living Translation)

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 – 3 Indeed, we live as human beings, but we do not wage war according to human standards; 4 for the weapons of our warfare are not merely human, but they have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments 5 and every proud obstacle raised up against the knowledge of God, and we take every thought captive to obey Christ. (New Revised Standard Version)

3. Everyday I must choose to _______________ my mind on the right things

2 Timothy 2:8 – Keep your mind on Jesus Christ! He was from the family of David and was raised from death, just as my good news says. (Contemporary English Version)

Philippians 2:4 – Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. (New Living Translation)

Hebrews 10:24 – Let us think about each other and help each other to show love and do good deeds. (New Century Version)

Colossians 3:2 – Let heaven fill your thoughts; don’t spend your time worrying about things down here. (The Living Bible)

How serious are you about changing your life?
