2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.
Hebrews 11:6 NKJV
6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

1 a: to have a firm religious faith

b: to accept as true, genuine, or real 〈ideals we believe in〉 〈believes in ghosts〉

1. came means to arrive at.

We live in the bible belt. it is sometimes harder to honestly seek The Lord in a religious environment like Abilene.
However, if we are to come to the relief that is promised in recovery we are going to have to began seeking God.
Notice that we say seek God not finding God.
We are not asking you to have already found God we are asking you to to seek God.
Deuteronomy 4:29 NKJV
29 But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.
The Lord promises that we will find Him if we seek Him.

1: to resort to: go to

2 a: to go in search of: look for

b: to try to discover

I am inviting you to seek Him now you cannot come to believe until you seek Him. you cannot come to arrive at until your journey begins.

2. The Lord gives us Holy Spirit power.

Romans 6:4 NKJV
4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

How do we walk in the newness if life?

We do this by submission to God.

James 4:7–8 NKJV
7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

3. I submit to God by working the program.

1: activity in which one exerts strength or faculties to do or perform something:

seek God
If we are to see success we are going to need to exert any effort necessary to achieve sobriety.
I need to do more than attend meetings, I need a sponsor, while your sponsor should be friendly, your sponsor is not an obligatory friend, they are a person that works the steps with you.
Work the steps.
Serve others.

Is my relationship with God current? Or has my relationship with God gone stale? And while I may be attending church, going to meetings, and even serving, it is NOT because I am committed to God; instead, I have become religious.
