Mark 5:25 A woman who had had a hemorrhage for twelve years,
Mark 5:26 and had endured much at the hands of many physicians, and had spent all that she had and was not helped at all, but rather had grown worse—
Mark 5:27 after hearing about Jesus, she came up in the crowd behind Him and touched His cloak.
Mark 5:28 For she thought, “If I just touch His garments, I will get well.”
Mark 5:29 Immediately the flow of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of her affliction.
Mark 5:30 Immediately Jesus, perceiving in Himself that the power proceeding from Him had gone forth, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My garments?”
Mark 5:31 And His disciples said to Him, “You see the crowd pressing in on You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’ ”
Mark 5:32 And He looked around to see the woman who had done this.
Mark 5:33 But the woman fearing and trembling, aware of what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth.
Mark 5:34 And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace and be healed of your affliction.”

Introduction

Persistent - to continue firmly or determinately in an opinion or a course of action in spite of difficulty or opposition.
A lot of people shut down when they face opposition. Opposition is what keeps you from reaching your outcome.
If you want to see miraculous things happen in your life you have to have a persistent mentality.
Training for a marathon - opposition…persisted in training.
vv 21-23 we see that Jesus was on his way to the house of a religious leader names Jairus. (explain)
I find that often God will interrupt what He is doing in one area to release the miraculous in another.

I. She was suffering from a persistent problem.

God understands problems that are persistent.
Mark 5:25 A woman who had had a hemorrhage for twelve years,
Mark 5:26 and had endured much at the hands of many physicians, and had spent all that she had and was not helped at all, but rather had grown worse—
A. Not much is known about her other than she is defined by her issue.
She was bleeding for twelve years.
Her situation had persisted so that she carried with her the scars of failed attempts to get well.
Leviticus 15:19 ‘When a woman has a discharge, if her discharge in her body is blood, she shall continue in her menstrual impurity for seven days; and whoever touches her shall be unclean until evening.
This condition not only brought poor health, but made her ceremonially unclean and thus unable to participate in the normal life of the community.
Issues that cause us to bleed will cause us to hide and isolate because we are embarrassed.
WE fear the judgement and condemnation of people
B. She endured much at the hands of many.
Luke (the physician) says that NO ONE could help her.
I find that the best cases are the ones where NO ONE can help you.
Matthew 19:26 “And looking at them Jesus said to them, “With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
C. What are you bleeding from?

II. Her persistent faith promoted her healing.

Mark 5:27 She had heard about Jesus, so she came up behind him through the crowd and touched his robe.

A. She heard - She had heard that Jesus could heal.

Romans 10:17 “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.”
Hearing is what sparks your faith, but what good is sparking your faith if you don’t act on it.
If you want to see miracles you must feed your faith.
If you surround yourself with people who have no faith you will pursue what you hear.

B. She came - She came up from behind.

James 2:26 “For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.”
She was hiding…yet she was seeking.
I wonder if in your pain you're still seeking.
She sought answers from everywhere, until she heard that Jesus could heal.

C. She thought -

Mark 5:28 For she thought to herself, “If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed.”
Her faith was sparked by what she heard. It was activated by her act of faith. But her faith was motivated by what she thought.
What you think will determine how you respond. Why? Because faith begins with what you think.
Only referring to this verse
Proverbs 23:7 “For as he thinks within himself, so he is. He says to you, “Eat and drink!” But his heart is not with you.”
Mark 5:29 Immediately the bleeding stopped, and she could feel in her body that she had been healed of her terrible condition.
Notice that her bleeding stopped after she acted on what she thought and believed.
“Belief gives people access to Jesus’ life-giving power; unbelief blocks it.”
If there is a difference between faith and belief. 1. Faith is resting you confidence in what you cannot see. 2. Belief is thinking that the impossible can be done.
DO you believe that God can do the impossible for you?

III. Jesus acknowledged her faith.

Mark 5:30 Jesus realized at once that healing power had gone out from him, so he turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my robe?”
A. What level of faith did she have that she was able to draw from Jesus by simply touching the fringe of his robe?
Matthew 21:21–22 “And Jesus answered and said to them, “Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ it will happen. “And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.””
How many things have you missed out on because you have doubted what God can do?
Mark 5:31 His disciples said to him, “Look at this crowd pressing around you. How can you ask, ‘Who touched me?’ ”
Mark 5:32 But he kept on looking around to see who had done it.
B. He wanted to acknowledge the the power was not in the garment. The power was in Jesus.
Have you ever tried to look for your miracle in an object and not in God?
Mark 5:33 Then the frightened woman, trembling at the realization of what had happened to her, came and fell to her knees in front of him and told him what she had done.
LUKE says, And when the woman saw that she had not escaped notice,
B. God is not willing that you go unnoticed. How did he acknowledge her?
Mark 5:34 And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace. Your suffering is over.”
C. It was her faith…
Is your faith strong enough to believe for the impossible?
Do you have the kind of faith to move the hand of God?

CONCLUSION

This morning you have heard. Are you willing to come and act on your faith?
