The second judge of Israel, Ehud, battled his enemy, Eglon, with a sword or dagger. Ehud reminds us that we also battle our spiritual enemies with a spiritual dagger – the Sword of the Spirit. God’s Word is a spiritual dagger. Its message cuts. It gets to the point. And it’s two-sided, meaning it works both ways – for us and on us. It harms the enemy, but it also exposes our fleshly thoughts and desires. We are to use the Sword of the Spirit often, and we are to start by using it on ourselves!
