Exegetical Idea: God moves for those who’s hearts are His
Story of my Daughter Addalyn - No one make fun of my God
The story begins with mocking of the young kids.
“You can’t do it, Just give up.” These are the words that rang out as fear took hold of all who heard it!
Dat after Day this call would ring out, followed by a challenge “Just send out one brave man, so I can kill him and make you all our slaves.”
Although each day that the people of God prolonged their physical slavery, nothing could stop the fear from becoming their slave master. And what terrible master fear is.
Fear leaves its victims paralyzed to the promises of God . Which is what Happened that Day on the battlefield, and everyday that those words “you can’t do anything, Just give up.”
Each day they would munster the the courage to get into battle formation. Encouraging each other “we can do this, ready yourselves” only to Hear the cry!
Christian Standard Bible Chapter 17
When Saul and all Israel heard these words from the Philistine, they lost their courage and were terrified.
Even the the king Could over come the fear that tortured his heart.
In an final desperate attempt to bring some relief from the insanity that kept repeating itself day and night, King Saul cried “If anyone can muster the strength to face this giant, I will make him wealthy and give Him my daughter in marriage.”
At this time walks in the most unlikely Hero, at the most unlikely time.
You see with God he is looking for the faith. God responds to faith, not to those who were enslaved to fear.
that day on the battlefield, an entire nation along with a king had the opportunity to respond to the situation in faith. but faith requires us to conquer the fear, and silence the voice that says, “what if God doesn’t come through?”
Now without faith it is impossible to please God, since the one who draws near to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
In this moment comes the call of faith and the screaming of fear, “You can’t do this!” “Believe in God!” “Just Give up!” “All things are possible to Him who believes!” “Where is your God!?” “God is for you, an ever present help!”
These are the voice that wage war inside! one seeking to you gripped, while the other seeks to bring hope, a future!
Which will be the victor?
For the people and the king, it was the gripping voice of fear!
But for a shepherd boy it was faith. Faith in the God who delivers. Faith in the God who keeps His promises.
When opposition arise faith seizes it as opportunity !
And God is no respecter of persons, He looks at the heart.
For the eyes of the Lord roam throughout the earth to show himself strong for those who are wholeheartedly devoted to him. You have been foolish in this matter. Therefore, you will have wars from now on.”
The requirement a heart devoted to Him.
And God found this in a boy who wasn’t supposed to be at this fight!
It was n’t his battle, in fact He wasn’t even supposed to be at war.
Yet on this day God saw a heart completely devoted to Him, and found the person who He could use to bring about the salvation of the Nation.
What is the response of those who see the faith they lacked?
Jealousy and anger. “Well, who do you think you are? “ “You think you are better then all the men here?” “These men have seen battle, and you are s simply shepherd, what can you even do?”
The king- possibly in embarrassment, exclaimed “You are a young boy, and He is has been a warrior since he was young. You can’t fight Him.”
Eyes that always focus on the physical always see the cant’s.
Yet , Faith looks past the limitations to the God who has no limits.
Faith also motivates people to get the things that God loves, and the promises He makes-
God uses people to accomplish his will, this day God found the one who loved His will. Deliverance
Christian Standard Bible Chapter 17
Don’t let anyone be discouraged by him;ab your servant will goac and fight this Philistine!
King Saul reluctantly gave in, as if this was his last hope. “Nothing is going to change, might as well try with this boy. Matters could get any worse!”
But when God calls you people will try there best to come up with their best solutions to try to help, but if they aren’t operating in faith, then why solutions could they possibly give?
King Saul, this man who stood head and shoulder above all other men, in an empty attempt to help thought “if you go to battle you need armor, I have the best armor, use mine.”
David the shepherd boy, who had no armor because he had no fight, now standing with the best solution that man could offer, not able to even walk.
What starts i faith continue in faith.
David standing in tis awkward moment said, “The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.”
“The Lord has delivered me, and the Lord will deliver me!”
It is in this moment where Where David reveals how he is operating, and the contrast between Him and the entire nation!
It is as if David has lived the life of Psalm 18.
I love you, Lord, my strength.
The Lord is my rock,
my fortress, and my deliverer,
my God, my rock where I seek refuge,
my shield and the horn of my salvation,
my stronghold.
I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise,
and I was saved from my enemies.
David know preparing for battle the way that He knew how, faith in God and a sling in hand!
The God who speaks and worlds are made, doesn’t need much to bring about victory, simply a heart that is devout to Him
Like a Clint Eastwood western the shoot out began
Christian Standard Bible Chapter 17
Then, with his sling in his hand, he approached the Philistine.
Spring:
In a moment of shock the battle ready giant, with the scares that told the story of the victories that He had personally won, exclaimed “Am I a dog that you come against me with sticks?”
“Is this an insult that you are trying to make, or are you that scared you become stupid?”
David standing there, being belittled by this unstoppable force, who desired to kill Him and make an example for all the rest of the army that stood behind this boy, Doubled down on Faith.
“What has gotten me to this point in my life is gonna be the force that carries me through. and it is God!”
David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with a sword, spear, and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord of Armies, the God of the ranks of Israel—you have defied him.
“You don’t get to speak about my God like That, and now he has sent me to shut you up, and deliver these people!”
For David Heart belonged to God.
When there was enough postering and talking, the battle ready giant did what He had done some many times stepped towards his prey.
But David advanced faster, unlike the other adversaries the giant had faced before.
And in an acts of God the giant fell before everyones eyes. “what did we just witness.” Shock and awe, broke forth to victory and celebration.
