1 Corinthians 3:4–9 NKJV
For when one says, “I am of Paul,” and another, “I am of Apollos,” are you not carnal? Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers through whom you believed, as the Lord gave to each one? I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor. For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building.
1 Corinthians 3:4–9 NIV
For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” are you not mere human beings? What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.
Who is Paul Who is Appallos
We see That Paul asserts himself first who is Paul the Apollos
What is interesting though some of your translations may put Apollos first This is uneqivically wrong. Paul in the earliest manuscripts we have to date asserted himself first saying who am I as a form of humbleness. Saying its not me its not Apollos we follow But God . When you read the King James or New King James you see the order is correct but many modern translations have changed this order . Unfortunately it changes the meaning
If Paul were to first say Who is Apollos Who is Paul . Now He can be seen as a attack on Apollos but because Paul starts with himself he cannot be seen as an attack on Apollos
We Can learn something from this maybe there is a situation you are caught up in the middle of something maybe its a division we have a choice as Paul had
Say listen to me side with me I'm the right way
Or Paul could have said oh look at them how they are Nothing i mean im nothing too but not like them
Or we can be respectful in a way to stop the division humble our self and do whats right
Remember these are not Paul disciples they are not Apollos disciples
you are not my as their disciples
NO you belong to Christ
Not to Paul washer Not to Ron Lowe Not to Voddie Bachum not To Jimmy swaggart not to Joel olstien , steven furtick
No the church belongs to the king to the Groom of the bride not to the house keeper
that's all we are as humble ministers of the Gospel we are Gods house keepers he is the owner of the house this is His we just try to keep it pure try to keep it clean
Do not get so caught up on preachers ministries even the buildings get instead caught up in Christ He alone not his wretched preacher who stands before you
Who am I but a unworthy vessel that God has chosen to use don't look to this vessel nor any other look to who pours into the vessel He alone provide the source of life of love of Hope of freedom
Not this preacher not this building Christ only
Paul planted the church
Everyone has that person in their life i think they will always be special to us
Talk about YJ
talk about Charles
But I don't need these men today I need God Him alone i told this to yj i know it hurt his feelings i dint intend for it to but it was true then as it is true now
the truth is you don't need me you need Christ]
Every person Needs someone to water them to continue to pour into their lives their souls
the importance of being remaining and being active in church
Iron sharpens iron
we need one another to share our burdens
we hold one another accountable we strengthen one another
But never forget its not the one who plant nor the one that waters that matters is the one who gives the increase which is God
This is not me and my ability as a believer to know more this is not me as a preacher to preach better to have better programs in the church no those are surface and unstable growth true growth the kind that matters that lasts that withstands the test of fire comes from God alone.
We will have rewards in heaven and now for our faithfulness in our service to god
It may not look like a a new corvette in the driveway it way just look like the peace and joy that gets you through the toughest of times for each will receive their own rewards depending on what they have sown
You shall reap what you sow
expound
Do onto others as you would have them do unto you expound
Notice the last words of our verse you are Gods building you are his field so lets build this church lets build you are you willing today to let go and let god rebuild your broken walls
Maybe you built them to protect your self from being hurt by friends by neighbors by family by your spouse by your church by God
Let go this morning Let God tear down those broken walls
Let him rebuild you from his perfect foundation that you may be perfect that you may be complete lacking nothing for you are in Him and He in you Let go this morning let is all go
