John 17:20–21 ESV
“I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.
Jesus went to the cross to bear the full weight of our Sin, for all time on the cross - Even to the point - of feeling as though His father had Forsaken Him.
We can’t even begin to fathom what this felt like. Jesus - Hanging on a cross - feeling abandoned from the Father.
Matthew 27:46 ESV
And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
Jesus went to the cross - to endear death, to endure the feeling of seperation so that we might never have to.
Jesus wants you to come to Him - but also, to be bonded to each other - That’s why we do communion together, as a body.
Ephesians 4:2–3 ESV
with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
