God’s Love
God’s Love
The Holy Bible: King James Version Chapter 4
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
Problem: We cannot fully fathom God’s Love, so we do not act out of love
Life Change: Get a glimpse of God’s Love and choose to love Him
Introduction
Have you ever tried to pick up a handfull of sand and then try to guess how much sand is in your hand?
Have you ever taken a handful of water from the ocean and found you didn’t even make a difference in the amount of water you took out?
Can we truly fathom the depth of the universe or how many stars are in the heavens?
So the love of God is beyond our understanding! We can drink of it and find that it is still eternal.
When we realize a little about the great love of God, it should effect our thoughts, actions, and intents. Our whole attitude and being should be changed
Do you know that the world experiences God’s love, but do not fully experience how much He truly loves them.
Are we acting and living in a way that misses the motive of His deep love?
Nobody ever need to be afraid of Jesus, because He is the epitome of love, kindliness, geniality, warm attractiveness and sweetness. And that is exactly what the Holy Ghost is, for He is the Spirit of the Father and the Son. Amen.10
A. W. Tozer
God Is Love
He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
Everything God does is effected by His love
His Love in Action for all
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
2. Even when we do not understand
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
3. His Love is with us
Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.
4. God’s Love is Great
But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
5. His Love Gives peace
Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,
Application
Realize that God is love and effects everything in your life
When you don’t understand, remember
He wants to give peace
His love is greater than your circumstances
God’s Wise Love: He Saw Our Need
Sent His Beloved Son
His Greatest Gift for mankind
He saw our need
Under Condemnation
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
To Give us Life
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
Headed to Hell
And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Separated from God
And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
Application
He saw your need and took action
You were under condemnation and headed to hell
You were separated from God,
See the need of others
Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
5. He sees others needs: Take Action
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
God’s Sacrificial Love: He met our need
He sent His Son to die
1 John 4:10 (KJV)
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
Propitiation: Turning away of anger by the offering of a gift: Death of Christ
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
2. Broken Fellowship
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
3. The Agony of the cross
And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe. And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews! And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head. And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.
And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha: Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.
And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS.
Application
It cost God Everything
Give your all to Him
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
3. Live out of Love for Him
God’s Eternal Love: He Keeps Loving
He First Loved Us
We love him, because he first loved us.
2. He still loves us: Mo separation!!
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
3. He will love into eternity
I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.
4. He loves us no matter what!
For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
Application
He loved us from all eternity
He loves now
He loves into eternity
No matter what
Our love for Him should be unconditional
We love him, because he first loved us.
Conclusion
God Saw our need
God met our need
God keeps loving
Let us choose to love Him with our actions
Let us choose to live others by actions
True Love works
If ye love me, keep my commandments.
There is only one being who loves perfectly, and that is God, yet the New Testament distinctly states that we are to love as God does; so the first step is obvious. If ever we are going to have perfect love in our hearts we must have the very nature of God in us.
Oswald Chambers
When once you realize all that it cost God to forgive you, you will be held as in a vice, constrained by the love of God.
Oswald Chambers
I know of no truth in the whole Bible that ought to come home to us with such power and tenderness as that of the love of God.
Dwight L. Moody
4755 God is love, not, God is loving. God and love are synonymous. Love is not an attribute of God, it is God; whatever God is, love is. If your conception of love does not agree with justice and judgment and purity and holiness, then your idea of love is wrong.
Oswald Chambers
