We had a great day of outreach, prayer Bible college,
As a father when my son or daughter is crying I tend to there needs. It could be a diaper change or they could be hungry. Or it could be something small, like they want help getting a toy animal down that is out of reach. Or my daughter will say “dad can you help me put on my favorite hat.” I will stop whatever I’m doing to make sure they have what they want. It seems small and insignificant but I love doing it. Because I love my kids! How much more is the Fathers love for us. even in the little things in our lives. God is very much concerned even with the seemingly little things. He’s willing to pay attention to you even in those anxious times, the times when feel like giving up. The times when we complain about some of the most pities things He hears us and He cares.
We are learning about the names of Jesus in our “to know Him series”.
In Hebrew culture names mean everything
The names of Jesus describe His character, mission, nature, and roles.
His names reveals how we should relate and worship Him. How we identify Him and how He identifies with us.
- Christ says that He’s the “Good Shepherd”, and “The Bread of Life.” These names describe His character.
- He’s called “The Son of Man, The Son of God, The Son of Joseph”. These describe His nature, being fully God and fully Man.
- When The Bible says That He is the “Immanuel, The Word, Christ.” These describe His roles as the second Person of the Trinity.
So understanding His names helps us to understand who He is what HE came to do and how we should relate to Him.
Proverbs 18:10 NKJV
The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.
The name of The Lord is referring not the name itself but the attributes associated with the name.
In this case the attributes associated with The name of the LORD. is referring to His power and protection.
“The name of the Lord is a Tower of Strength” a secure refuge.
In times of war the people from a city would flee to the strong tower. Everyone knew where was. Just imagine everyone from a city fleeing to this strong town 50000 people fleeing at once to get away from a threat.
Just like if there was a bomb threat everyone will flee to the bomb shelter.
When it says the righteous run to it. Running refers to a wholehearted unwavering trust in His protection.
Just like a child running into arms of a mother.
Isaiah 40:31 NKJV
But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
safe - Is high. Or inaccessible. Meaning your out of danger.
God is bringing us to a Place where we trust in Him.
2 Corinthians 1:9 NKJV
Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead,
Paul was under persecution in Asia, he said even his own life wad in despair. He had no hope
The Amen
Revelation 3:14 NKJV
“And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, ‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God:
Jesus has His message to the Laodiceans and He refers to Himself as The Amen.
Amen - means “so be it”, “That is so” - It refers to the sovereignty of God behind human events.
Jesus is fully sovereign and His promises will be fulfilled whether we agree or like it or not, He’s the Amen.
When we pray or say spiritual things we put it at the end of our prayers as a affirmation. “So Be it!”
But when God speaks He puts His Amen at the beginning of His utterance as a proclamation. “So it is!”
- We say Amen as a confirmation. When Gods word comes alive in our situation we say Amen!
He is alive and His Word is true! Amen He’s faithful
The older you get the more you see Gods hand in your life we can say Amen!
Sir Arthur Sullivan wrote the stirring music of “The Lost Chord” while sitting at the deathbed of a brother.
Seated one day at the organ
I was weary and ill at ease,
And my fingers wandered idly
Over the noisy keys.
I know not what I was playing,
Or what I was dreaming then,
But I struck one chord of music
Like the sound of a great Amen.
I have sought, but I seek it vainly,
That one Lost Chord divine,
Which came from the soul of the organ
And entered into mine.
It may be that Death’s bright angel
Will speak that chord again;
It may be that only in heaven
I shall hear that grand Amen.
Imagine when you get to heaven you hear the grand Amen! The confirmation of everything we believed here on earth! Everything that the Bible says is true Amen. WE hear the Amen and will see The Amen!
2 Corinthians 1:20 NKJV
For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.
See the world is very fickle they say one thing and do something else.
Some of us husbands can be this way you still your wife you are going to take out the trash and it never happens. You see her taking out the trash and feel horrible.
Our yes could mean a no.
When we considered the trustworthiness of God and His promises we understand that His promises are Yes and Amen.
A resounding yes and Amen!
