Two primary ways “foreknew” is used.

A. God chose people before the foundation of the world.

2 Thessalonians 2:13 NASB95
But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth.

B. God chose people since they would never choose Him.

1. If foreknew means people chose God, then people would have to do the impossible.
