Every BODY

As we approach our fast beginning tomorrow, I want you to know that the devil wants to destroy you. He will come after every gate in your life in an attempt to keep you from fulfilling God’s will in your life and for your life. Fortunately, he has no power or authority over you that you don’t give him.
1 Peter 5:8 (ESV)
8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
As I was preparing to start this new series, the Lord impressed on me to take a few minutes and address this. The devil wants to destroy you, and he will if you’ll let him. He’ll attack your mind. He’ll attack your emotions. I’m sure many of us have seen that in our lives. For a minute tonight, I want to lovingly challenge you (and maybe correct you if you need it) about taking care of yourselves and not giving the devil any room for an attack.
Specifically, I want to remind you of what the Bible says about your body.
1 Corinthians 6:19–20 (ESV)
19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
You’ve only got the one body. You need to take care of yourself. The plan of God for your life is only as good as the body you’ve been given to use for the work of the ministry.
1 Corinthians 10:31 (ESV)
31 So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
This body is for God’s glory. Eat the right foods. Take vitamins. Sleep. Walk. Run. Exercise. What a shame it would be for you to miss the fullness of God’s plan for your life because your body can’t sustain it. This is a word of caution, correction, and encouragement. Make wise choices about your physical health. For you to step into the fullness of your calling, it’s an important element.
Luke 2:52 (ESV)
52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man.
If you have wisdom and favor, it won’t do you any good if you die an early death because of a broken down body. Take care of yourselves, and allow God’s glory to work through you to its fullest potential.
