Hebrews 2:10

When the false translations chose to replace “captain” they use:
founder
pioneer
author and
source.
Greek “doxa” - Majesty belonging to Christ.
Hebrew “sar” - the leader.
So why would the KJV translators use “captain”?

I. The Choice of the Title.

A monarch only could offer the title.
Romans 3:25 “Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;”

II. The Costs of the Title.

The captain himself would pay for the lodging and clothing of the men under his command.
Philippians 4:19 “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

III. The Care of the Title.

He had to have compassion and leadership qualities.
Psalm 23
1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

IV. The Cause of the Title.

Hebrews 2:10 “For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.”
“many sons into glory”

Conclusion:

Are you in the Lord’s army?
