SVCC is built by God, upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, and with Christ Jesus as the cornerstone.
We are joined together by union with Christ, we are growing, and we are a dwelling place of God by his Spirit.

WHY?…
TODAY:
Opening Scripture:
2 Corinthians 5:19–21 (ESV)
19 that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.
20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

The Essence of the Gospel Message

Gospel Message Defined: The Life, Death, and Resurrection is the Gospel not just the salvation message but all that is in the Gospels (Mark 1)
Mark 1:1 “1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.”

The Essential Elements of the Gospel Message

All people have sinned against God (Rom 3:1-20)
Romans 3:23 “23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”
The Penalty of sin is death (Rom 5:12-21; 6:23)
Romans 6:23 “23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Christ has paid the penalty of sin (Rom 5:1-11; 1Cor 15:20-28; 2 Cor 5:18-21)
2 Corinthians 5:21 “21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
Christ has died, been buried, and raised and has conquered death (1 Cor 15:3-4; 50-57; Rev 1:17-18)
1 Corinthians 15:3–4 “3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,”
Christ invites any and all to come to him (Matt 11:28-30; Rev 3:20; 22:17)
Matthew 11:28 “28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
2 Corinthians 5:19 “19 that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.”
Revelation 3:20 “20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.”
The Gospel promised complete forgiveness and eternal life (Jn 1:11-13; 3:14-18; 6:37-40; Rom 4:1-8)
John 6:40 “40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.””
Invitation to become part of the people of God; to become disciples of Jesus Christ (Matt 16:24-28; 28:18-20; 2 Cor 6:6-18)
Matthew 28:18–20 “18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.””
There is a final judgment day (Eccl 12:13-14; Acts 2:9-11; Rom 2:4-7; Phil 2:9-11; 1 Thes 1:9-10; Rev 20:11-15)
Romans 2:5 “5 But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed.”
Cautious response (Lk 14:24-35)
Luke 14:27 “27 Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.”
This call is a call I am continually facing throughout my entire life.

The Order of Salvation in Acts 2:37-38:

Acts 2:37–38 “37 Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” 38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

1. The Gospel

Christ died for all clearly within scripture although there is election language used by Paul but even he believed in unlimited atonement.

2. Convicted

3. Repentance

4. Baptized in Water and Receive Holy Spirit

A. Baptized in Water: An outward sign of an inward work
Romans 6:4 “4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
Luke 23:43 “43 And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.””
B. Spirit-Formed
Galatians 5:22–23 “22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”
C. Spirit-Filled
Ephesians 5:18 “18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be [continually] filled with the Spirit,”
Conclusion/Reflection:
Discipleship is a life long journey that follows a point in time through the Gospel message
