I) Prophecies in the Life

* This series of lessons will deal with what is called Christology.

The study of Christ, or the study of God the Son.

We will be looking at and studying the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ.

* In this beginning lesson we will deal primarily with the prophecies that had to do with the earthly life of Christ, that is, prophecies concerning Christ’s origin and concerning His human ministry.

Long before the Lord Jesus Christ was born it was prophesied that He would come.

The final and sure test of the infallibility of the word of God and Gods authority is prophecy.

He who knows the end from the beginning has spoken, and has already committed it to writing.

A. First, we deal with the prophecies in the earthly life of Christ.

Long before Jesus Christ was born it was prophesied that he would come.

The first prophecy occurred more than three thousand years before His birth.

Fulfilled prophecy is the main proof that the Bible is the written word of God.

It makes more than eight hundred prophecies, all of which are removed far enough in time from their fulfillment that there could be no chance of accident.

Of these eight hundred prophecies, three hundred of them have already been fulfilled literally, and there are five hundred that remain to be fulfilled in the future.

The mathematical probability of these prophecies coming to pass is less than one out of ten to the 895ᵗʰ power.

So, when we speak about the Bible being “Holy Scripture,” we are speaking with mathematical certainty of a scientific fact.

There are no books on science written which are that accurate.

There is no text book on science that can match the word of God.

B. The Bible makes forty-eight prophecies about the Lord Jesus Christ’s first coming to Israel as their Messiah.

The chances of forty-eight prophecies coming to pass in the life of one man, when the prophecies are written four hundred to two thousand years before He was born, are about one out of ten to the 157ᵗʰ power.

There are not that many electrons in the universe.

All of the prophecies come through on the button.

a. Jesus did not come to earth unannounced.

b. A study of Scripture fulfillment dealing with minute details encourages our faith in God, who not only draws up the master plan, but also the intricate details of the blueprint ahead of time.

We see that the details are fulfilled exactly as prophesied, and this reinforces the faith of the believer in the inspiration of Scripture and proves to him that the Bible is not just an assortment of books by various authors, but is one book with one Author: God.

c. It also proves that the Bible is not a “drop of truth in an ocean of truth” or a “bucket of truth in an ocean of truth.”

It is the “whole ocean” collapsed in your pocket.

The surest proof you have that the other so-called sacred scriptures are irreverent tomfoolery, is the fact that none of them even try the phenomena we find recorded in the Bible.

d. Our religion is not just based on faith alone; our religion is based on “historical facts.”

For example, the King James text has five hundred prophecies in it that deal with the second coming of

Christ that have not taken place yet.

Do you know what the chances are of a man “batting 500” out of 500?

Do you know what the chances are of a Book “batting 1,000” through a period of three hundred years.

These are the chances the Bible takes and never apologizes to anybody.

And because there are now five and one-half miles of obsolete books on “science” where the “scientific facts” have changed and are no longer relevant, what would “modern science” be alongside the Bible, anyway?

To assume that all these things just accidentally happen is an accident too great for the imagination.

You will find evolutionists and scientists who don’t believe in the word of God, and

yet they have mathematical scientific proof that the Bible is the word of God.

Incurable ignorance!

e. Our faith is undergirded by the witness of fulfilled prophecy and it helps us to stand firm and unmovable, because everything that God said would come to pass, did come to pass, and everything He has said that is going to come to pass, will come to pass.

Let’s take a look at some of the prophecies concerning Christ’s origin and Christ’s life.

The chances of these prophecies coming out and being fulfilled in the life of one man are one out of ten to the 97ᵗʰ power.

✓ Christ would come out of Israel.

✓ Christ would be descended from Abraham Isaac, and Jacob.

✓ Christ would be born in Bethlehem.

✓ Christ would be born of a virgin.

Isaiah 7:14

✓ The time of His coming was specified.

Daniel 9:25

✓ Christ’s coming was announced by a forerunner.

✓ The Messiah would be God manifest in the flesh.

✓ He would spend His childhood in Egypt.

Hosea 11:1

✓ He would suffer and make an atonement for sin.

Isaiah 53

✓ He would enter Jerusalem on “a colt the foal of an ass.

✓ He would be given gall and vinegar in His agony.

✓ Not a bone would be broken.

✓ He would utter certain words in His dying agony, which were quoted before He was born.

✓ He would rise from the dead.

✓ He would be betrayed by a friend.

✓ He would be accused by false witnesses.

✓ He would be spat upon and smitten.

✓ He would be hated without a cause.

✓ He would be scorned and mocked.

All they that see me laugh me to scorn: They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,

* All of the references listed above were written more than four hundred years before Jesus Christ was born.

* Every Orthodox Jew had all the thirty-nine Old Testament books of your King James Bible in print and reading them in the synagogues two hundred years before Jesus showed up.

* Above we have seen twenty-two details of a man’s life that were given before He was born that come to pass exactly as spoken.

* Now, let’s just suppose that all of the evolutionists monkey men and women, and the unbelieving scientists, and the psychiatrists, and all the relativists, and whoever else takes a stand against the word of God and the truth, decided that they were going to try to duplicate the above for themselves.

First of all, there would have to be some requirements they would have to go by for their reproduction to be a valid one.

Let’s see what they are.

1. Requirement Number One: You have to get the statements of seven different writers a thousand years apart.

2. Requirement Number Two: They have to write the events without any known record to get their material from.

3. Requirement Number Three: They have to be unaware of each other’s writings when they write.

4. Requirement Number Four: The details have to be fulfilled far enough in the future so that there is no chance that the author could have used hindsight instead of foresight.

* Ok, these few little things shouldn’t be too hard for all you folks that are smarter than the Lord and like to mock and scoff at the validity of the word of God, should they?

After all, the phenomena just listed can’t be found in the Harvard Five Foot Shelf of Classics.

They can’t be found in the Encyclopedia Britannica or in the Encyclopedia Americana.

Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover?

And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples.

And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the passover.

Now when the even was come, he sat down with the twelve.

And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.

And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them to say unto him, Lord, is it I?

And he answered and said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me.

The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born.

Then Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said unto him, Thou hast said.

And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.

And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;

For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.

And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.

Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.

But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.

Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended.

Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.

Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.

Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.

And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.

* We the saved, no matter where you are placed and fitted in the Lord’s Body have a tremendous advantage and great blessing when we consider it.

We are not like all other religions and false Christianity’s in the world.

They have no idea where or how their religion is going to end up.

We do! We have THE FINAL AUTHORITY on our side.

We know, that, believe the word of God, that eventually (that is either here or at the Judgment Seat of Christ or at the White Throne Judgment) every knee shall bend, every head shall bow, and every tongue shall confess that all their so-called gods are fakes, and Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.

Eventually, there will be only one “religion” in the world.

* When we speak of matters of Christology-studying the life and person, and work of the Lord Jesus Christ- we are dealing with the very heart of revelation itself.

* The devil, governments, Adolph Hitler, Nero, Tiberius, or any other authority or power cannot be, except it be under the permissive will and power of the Lord Jesus Christ.

* Dealing with the life of Jesus Christ: He is the only man who ever lived, who had four parts to His life.

1. First, He had His Pre-Incarnate State as God, existing in the Trinity. He was before all things.

2. In the second part of His life He was born of a virgin.

He was begotten as a “Son of Man” with two natures.

He lived on this earth a sinless life and died a sinless death.

3. In the third part of His life, after rising from the dead, He inhabits the bodies of millions of believers in the person of the Holy Spirit (who is said to be the “Lord”), who came to testify and magnify Jesus Christ Himself (John 15- 16) and who guides and leads them into all truth.

4. In the fourth part of His life He will return to this earth as “King of Kings, and Lord

of Lords.”

He will come as King Messiah, and He will sit down in the Davidic, Messianic, Jewish

throne of a political kingdom in Palestine.

* Before creation’s morning, back in the confines of eternity, He was the greatest Creator who ever lived, the greatest Artist who ever lived, and the greatest Musician who ever lived. His Creation manifested His works.

Psalms 19:1

* Before the Lord’s incarnate existence, He was the greatest Writer that ever lived, having written thirty-nine Old Testament books by twenty-four authors through a period of fifteen hundred years on three different continents.

* When He came to earth and walked upon this earth, He was the greatest Doctor that ever lived, healing without splints, compresses, oxygen tents, or hospitals. He was the greatest Preacher who ever lived.

The men of Nineve shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.

He was also the greatest Lover that ever lived, loving us and giving Himself to die for our sins.

Romans 5:10

For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

He was also the greatest Soldier who ever lived. He went through thirty-three years of His life knowing He was going to face a miserable death at the hands of torturers, knowing that He was going to die a brutal, cruel death on the cross. Look what the Scripture says.

* Then He rose from the dead. In this present age, He is the greatest Teacher that ever lived. He teaches and guides into truth.

He is the greatest Detective who ever lived.

The Holy Spirit is able to track down any sinner and bring him under the bond of the covenant, find out his sin, and convict him of sin, righteousness, and judgment.

He is the greatest Politician that ever lived. He opens doors that politicians can’t open, and He closes doors so that nobody can open them.

* Someday, Jesus Christ will come back to this earth as “King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

When he comes back, He will be the greatest King who ever lived-the greatest Monarch and the greatest

Dictator the world has ever seen, ruling this earth with rod of iron.

Habakkuk 2:14

When the Lord Jesus Christ comes back, Asia, Africa, Europe, North, Central and South America, the Arctic, the Antarctic, and the Islands of the sea will be subject to His name.

* Now, the birth of Jesus Christ on this earth (in the second part of His life) was by the virgin Mary. It is recorded in Matthew and Luke, but was prophesied in Genesis 3:15.

* Jesus was circumcised at the age of eight days.

Mary, recognizing the fact that she was a sinner, under the law (Leviticus 12) had to go to the temple and offer a purification for her sins, as a sinner.

Mary plainly confessed that she was a sinner exactly like anybody else.

* Jesus grew and was taken to the temple at Jerusalem when He was twelve years of age.

And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.

Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover.

And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast.

These are the twelve silent years of Jesus’ life in which the Scriptures tell us nothing.

There are those that have written things claiming to know something about the twelve childhood years of Jesus.

But according to God’s word He has chosen to be silent and not tell us anything.

We must remember that where the Lord has chosen to be silent, it was for a reason, and it should be respected as just as inspired as the written and revealed Scripture is.

The Lord chose to pass over twelve years of His Son’s life as silent and that is as it should remain.

* The early years of Jesus’ life were spent as a carpenter in Nazareth.

Mark 6:3

Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.

From then on (from the time He was twelve until eighteen years later, when He appeared publicly at the ministry of John the Baptist), nothing is said more than is found in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

* Jesus began His earthly ministry around Judaea, Samaria, and Galilee, a period that lasted about six months. He was baptized by John the Baptist, and immediately following His baptism, He was driven into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

Jesus’ first miracle was performed at Cana of Galilee. John 2:1-11

And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.

His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.

And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.

And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.

When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,

And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.

This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

Jesus’ second miracle performed in Cana was the healing of the nobleman’s son performed in Capernaum.

John 4:46-54 These are the first recorded miracles recorded in His Galilean ministry.

So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.

When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.

Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.

The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.

Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.

And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.

Then inquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.

So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.

This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judaea into Galilee.

* The second stage of Jesus’ ministry, covered a period of six to eight months in Capernaum and Galilee where He performed miracles, healed the sick, and preached the gospel.

* The third stage of Jesus’ earthly life is what is called “the later Galilean ministry,” lasting about a year, in and around Galilee. Crowds followed Him, and He preached the Sermon on the Mount there (the record in Mat 5- 7 ).

And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

* In the next stage of His ministry, the Pharisees hounded Him up and down the country to seek His life while He traveled around Bethsada, Capernaum, Phoenicia, Caesarea, Philippi and finally reentered Galilee.

* In the last six months, we find the Lord preaching, teaching, and traveling in a Judean ministry.

* The last week, on Palm Sunday, we have the last supper near Gethsemane, the trials of the Pharisees, Herod and Pilate, and His death by the cross.

* Three Days later, according to prophecy, Jesus rose from the dead with over five hundred eyewitnesses to testify to the facts thereof.

* The next forty days He spent eating, sleeping, talking, and fellowshipping with His disciples.

* Finally, He ascended visibly and bodily into heaven.

* His earthly life lasted exactly thirty-three and one-half years, with His birth coming at the Feast of Tabernacles in the fall (not December 25, the birthday of Baal, the sun god). It then runs half a year from September-October to March-April, and then runs through three Passovers, with the Lord Jesus Christ Himself being the fourth Passover. In John’s Gospel, you will find four feasts of the Passovermentioned and the Lord Jesus Christ Himself being the fourth (John 12,13,14),

Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.

There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.

Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.

Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, which should betray him,

Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?

This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.

Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.

For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.

Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.

But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death;

Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.

On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.

And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written,

Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass’s colt.

These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him.

The people therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record.

For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle.

The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.

And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast:

The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus.

Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus.

And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:

That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?

Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,

He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.

Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:

For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.

And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.

I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

indicating that Christ’s ministry began in the fall and ended in the spring: a period of forty-two months or 1260 days (three and one-half years).

* The Life of the Lord Jesus Christ can be summarized in these words.

Christology-Miracles of the Lord

* In this lesson we will study the Miracles of Christ.

This subject has for centuries been the battleground for unbelievers.

The so-called educated minds of today attempt to solve the dispute by just pretending that they did not happen.

Because they can neither understand or prove them, they reject them.

* The believer on the other hand accepts the miracles of Jesus Christ because he has faith in a miracle working God.

A true believer’s first “proof” of a miracle working God is, of course, the new birth itself.

Nothing could be more miraculous than the new birth.

Why in the world would any man who has experienced the new birth doubt the miracles of Jesus Christ?

The new birth, in itself, is a miracle.

It is kind of understandable from a saved persons viewpoint why a lost person would

question the miracles of the Lord, not having experienced a miracle to point to in their own life.

* The word “miracle” is used very loosely today.

Someone survives a terrible car wreck and another call it a “miracle” when it was not a miracle at all, it was “divine providence.” Whether they will admit it or not, or give Him the glory or not, they know it was not a “miracle.”

So, then, what does the word miracle mean?

A simple definition is, “the setting aside of a lower law, by a higher law, the higher law being a law of God which supersedes earth’s laws.

For example, an apple falls down according to the law of gravity, but if it fell up that would be a miracle.

It would be the power of God superseding and changing the “law of gravity.”

* The unbeliever gets into an airplane and it takes off. They say “airflow’ and “aerodynamics” and

“feathering” and “props” and “lift” and “stabilizers” and the “vacuum” and “uplift”and blabbobdy,

blah, blah.

It never occurs to them that a higher law comes into play when the plane takes off the

ground, and this law is worked out by sinners that do not have the capacity to comprehend “God.”

Here’s how a “scholar would put it.

“It’s an effect in nature not attributable to any of the recognized operations in nature, nor the act of man, but indicative of super human power and serving as a sign or witness thereof.”

Huuuhhh?

In Acts 4, the Jewish council and the Holy Spirit called the healing of the forty-year-old man that never walked a “miracle” when he walked, because ordinarily, they don’t walk.

Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead.

And it came to pass on the morrow, that their rulers, and elders, and scribes,

And Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem.

And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this?

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,

If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole;

Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.

And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.

But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,

Saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it.

But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.

And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.

But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.

For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.

So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was done.

For the man was above forty years old, on whom this miracle of healing was shewed.

And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them.

And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:

Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things?

The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ.

For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,

For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.

And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,

By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.

And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.

And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,

And laid them down at the apostles’ feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.

Saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it.

* The uniqueness of “Jesus' miracles” is apparent. They were performed to “prove His deity” and “give credit to His message.”

For these reasons, His miracles are debunked and disbelieved.

Unbelievers do not want to confess Him as God (Deity) and, wish to take away His Sovereignty (Authority).

This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

* The prophets Moses, Aaron and Elijah performed miracles by power given by God for specific tasks.

The Lord Jesus Christ performed His miracles by His own power to demonstrate His “deity.” In all,

Jesus performed thirty-five to forty miracles recorded in the gospels.

* Jesus, while being tempted by the devil refused to perform any miracles or to obey the devil to satisfy His hunger.

When the Lord was brought before Herod the skeptic, He showed him absolutely nothing.

That is one thing that is tremendous about our Lord is that He will not be manipulated by anyone, especially a dishonest unbelieving skeptic.

Jesus offered an answer about an honest skeptic, but to Herod, nothing!

I) Considering Jesus Christ’s Miracles

• He performed Miracles over Nature

But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!

The winds and the sea obey no man today.

There is not an astronaut, sailor, aerologist, or meteorologist in the world, today, who controls any wind or sea.

Man cannot and does not, no matter what he tries to come up with to do it, stop, change, or deter the weather when it has a mind to do something.

Where’s all of these “faith healing miracle workers” when a category 5 hurricane rolls ashore.

Answer? Headed North man, like everyone else, that’s where! Fakirs! Or, as the Holy Scriptures put it, “liars.”

• He performed Miracles over devils

Jesus had both powers to command devils to go out and to go in.

And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

Jesus healed all of these without a prayer line, a healing line, a healing cloth, an organ, a tent, a truck, a radio program, and never took up a donation. As a matter of record, He healed so much look what this real Apostolic brother said.

• Other Miracles that the Lord Jesus Christ performed

Jesus turned water into wine – John 2:7-11

And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.

This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

Jesus feeds five thousand people – John 6:1-14

And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.

When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?

And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.

One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, saith unto him,

There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?

And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.

And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.

When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.

Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.

Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.

Jesus feeds four thousand people – Matthew 15:32-39

Jesus curses a fig tree which immediately withered – Matthew 21:18-20

Jesus sends Peter fishing to pay their taxes –Matthew 17:24-27

He raised Lazarus from the dead – John 11

When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.

Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.

When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.

Then after that saith he to his disciples, Let us go into Judaea again.

His disciples say unto him, Master, the Jews of late sought to stone thee; and goest thou thither again?

Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.

But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him.

These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.

Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well.

Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.

Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.

And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.

Then said Thomas, which is called Didymus, unto his fellowdisciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.

Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already.

Now Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off:

And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.

Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house.

Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.

But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.

Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.

Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.

Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.

And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee.

As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly, and came unto him.

Now Jesus was not yet come into the town, but was in that place where Martha met him.

The Jews then which were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up hastily and went out, followed her, saying, She goeth unto the grave to weep there.

Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.

When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled,

And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see.

Jesus wept.

Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!

And some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died?

Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.

Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.

Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?

Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.

And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.

And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.

And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.

Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on him.

But some of them went their ways to the Pharisees, and told them what things Jesus had done.

Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles.

If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation.

And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all,

Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.

And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation;

And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad.

Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put him to death.

Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews; but went thence unto a country near to the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim, and there continued with his disciples.

And the Jews’ passover was nigh at hand: and many went out of the country up to Jerusalem before the passover, to purify themselves.

Then sought they for Jesus, and spake among themselves, as they stood in the temple, What think ye, that he will not come to the feast?

Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a commandment, that, if any man knew where he were, he should shew it, that they might take him.

He raised Jairus’ daughter from the dead – Matthew 9

And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?

But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.

But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Then came to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not?

And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.

But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose.

And the fame hereof went abroad into all that land.

And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us.

And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord.

Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.

And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it.

But they, when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country.

As they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed with a devil.

And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake: and the multitudes marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel.

But the Pharisees said, He casteth out devils through the prince of the devils.

And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.

But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.

Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;

Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

He raised the son of the widow of Nain from the dead – Luke 7:11-15

And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and much people.

Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her.

And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.

And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise.

And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.

He didn’t use any CPR, use any kind of medications or potions.

The people that the Lord raised were already pronounced” DEAD” when He got to them.

But, what is most amazing, if that weren’t enough after three days, He walks out of a tomb that is guarded by Roman centurions, and sealed with an army-of occupation governor’s ring. His own resurrection was the greatest miracle of all.

* So, let’s stop just a moment and think.

We can see from a brief examination of Jesus Christ the Lord’s miracles that there is something drastically wrong with the people that profess today to have apostolic power.

We all can probably name somebody that we are familiar with today or we have known or heard of in the past that has claimed to have “supernatural” powers and the ability to exercise them.

First, the Scriptures say that the signs were given to Israel.

Secondly, the signs went out with the apostles.

The surest proof these people trying to counterfeit or imitate something that they cannot produce is that none of them anywhere, at any time, in front of anybody has reproduced any of the things we have been over.

There is not a case anywhere, where a so-called “healer” ever fed four or five thousand in the wilderness with a hand full of fishes and bread.

There are no cases of any Charismatic, Pentecostal, or Holiness movements that were found at a graveyard bringing back to life a four-day old corpse that stunk.

No, the ones that “claim” these powers today are fakirs and spoken of by the Apostle John in his writing.

Look what he says they are.

Revelation 2:2

By the way just for the record, we never find anyone that performed a miracle of any kind in the scriptures “trying to get the glory for themselves” or “charging anyone for the services being rendered to the needy.”

The Lord said He was not going to share His glory with anybody else.

I am the Lord: that is my name: And my glory will I not give to another, Neither my praise to graven images.

Enough said!

* As to the credibility of Jesus’ miracles: Jesus’ miracles are the basis for belief or disbelief of the New Testament and cannot be separated from it.

The records of the Lords miracles are not sensational or glowingly presented.

They are just presented in a matter-of-fact way.

Most of them were performed openly and in front of many witnesses for all to see.

Unless the Lord specifically prescribed a situation because of someone’s unbelief, there were no private audiences.

Jesus had nothing to hide even though He could have if He had wanted to.

It was all done in the open.

Jesus’ miracles were instantaneous and effective immediately.

Nobody had to be part of the prayer line, or have a card, or be worked into a frenzy.

Bam! Done!

* All of the efforts of intellectual skeptics to explain the Lord’s miracles outside of belief and faith, were and are, bamboozled.

The Lord said ain’t nobody figuring out anything unless He says so.

* In closing, as far as the miracles performed by the Lord are concerned, let’s believe like the old southerner once put it who said, “I believe the whale swallowed Jonah because the Bible say’s so, but if the Bible said Jonah swallowed the whale, I would believe that too.”

CHRISTOLOGY -The Virgin Birth

* This lesson is going to be dealing with what is known in the Scriptures as the “virgin birth.”

There are those that do not believe in the virgin birth and that is fine.

This should not deter the Bible believer one bit.

We believe what God “has said” whether we understand it or not.

To only believe things that you can understand is a mistake.

Most people do not understand electricity, magnetism, the wind, gravity, polarization, light, heat and a million other things, yet they still

avail themselves of them and believe they are.

The Scriptures plainly teach the virgin birth and back it up many times.

The implications of the doctrine are striking, for if Jesus Christ was not virgin born then He is just like us.

A sinner. If He is a sinner, He cannot be trusted.

* A man who says that he believes in the resurrection of Christ but does not believe in the virgin birth is inconsistent.

If Jesus Christ were not “sinless” (with a different nature than you have) He is where you will be, in a hole in the ground.

The virgin birth is the crucial point of Scripture and the crux between Christ’s person and the person of any other religious leader.

Mohammed’s grave, Buddha’s grave and all of the dead pope’s corpses can be produced, but nobody has ever found the missing corpse of Christ.

There were and have been more people looking for the corpse of Jesus Christ than any other man that ever died.

If the Roman soldiers or the Jewish leaders could have found it, they certainly would have.

The virgin birth determines the resurrection and vice-versa.

Even though Christ lived a sinless life, if He had a sinful nature, He could not have saved anyone.

* How was Christ being born “without” a sinful nature accomplished? God the Father solved the problem by what is called the “virgin birth.”

Bible believing people are to accept and believe this mystery.

* Jesus did not have a human father, for the Holy Ghost was His Father.

Mary was His mother, but she did not pass on her sin nature to the baby Jesus, because the child got its nature from the seed, and the seed came from the Father.

* There is a much more important passage that has to do with this matter which is the fact that in the Scriptures the Lord prophesied that no man who came from the physical seed of Coniah and Zedekiah could ever sit down on the throne of David.

* When Christ was born Mary was told that He would get the throne of His father David.

And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

* So, the point we are making here is that if Jesus Christ had a human father, and if He came from the seed of the Jewish kings who inherited the throne of David, He could not inherit the throne of David.

Therefore, the seed had to be supernatural. Jesus spoke of these things.

Matthew 22:43-45

He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,

The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?

If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?

* The answer to the question is He couldn’t be unless His Father was God.

No Jewish father would ever call his son “Lord.”

So, Jesus is God’s Son from God’s seed of a woman.

* The virgin birth is foretold in the Old Testament.

Watch how the Lord works this out.

This is the actual prophecy.

Isaiah 7:14

Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, And shall call his name Immanuel.

This prophecy is repeated in Matthew 1:23

* The historical fulfillment of the prophecy of the virgin birth is found in Matthew chapter one and Luke chapter two.

* Mary was engaged to Joseph, but they were not married yet. Christ was born of a virgin, but a “betrothed virgin,” so that she could be married to protect her good name.

* The Pharisees understood perfectly the implications of the virgin birth because of what they said to Jesus Christ when they got angry with Him.

But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.

Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.

Of course, they were obviously saying, “you are born of fornication.”

The Lord encouraged Joseph to marry Mary in order to be a companion and guide to her and to protect her from the extremity of the law.

The severity of the law said that he could have her put to death.

And the man that committeth adultery with another man’s wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour’s wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.

* Matthew 1:18-25 tells us that although Joseph and Mary were married they did not come together as one until after the birth of the Saviour.

But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,

Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:

And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

After the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ, He had other brothers and sisters according to the flesh.

Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.

So, we see that Jesus had at least four brothers and 2 sisters according to the flesh.

Christ was the first born, and Mary bears brothers and sisters to Him after His birth according to the Scripture.

The Lord took special care to insert the above verses to show us that the unborn child could not possibly have been contaminated by a human father.

* The Apostle Paul knew the risen Christ was virgin born. 1 Corinthians 15:8; Colossians 1:15-17.

Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

When Paul speaks of the resurrection, look what he said.

Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;

Paul recognized Christ’s spiritual ancestry is God the Father, being born by the Holy Ghost of spiritual seed.

The way that Jesus Christ was connected with the house of David and the throne of David was through Mary.

Jesus acknowledge two natures, the Son of God and the Son of man.

Isn’t the Lord tremendous?

He is beautiful how He does things. Praise Him!

* Matthew precisely and clearly states that Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Ghost and was born of a virgin.

* If the father of the Lord Jesus Christ was human, you are still in your sins right now and you will die in your sins.

If Jesus Christ had a human father, He was and is no different than any other so-called religious leader that had no hope and no help.

* Just look at all the things Jesus said of Himself and claimed.

If Jesus Christ had a human father, He was a conceited lying deceiver of the worst kind.

He said nobody could get to God except by Him!

He was either telling the truth or lying.

How could a man get anybody in their right mind to believe a story like what He told if He was a sinner like you?

If He was not supernaturally born by God the Holy Ghost with a supernatural nature, “God in the flesh,” then He was the biggest lying four-flusher that ever walked across the face of the earth.

No man could say what Jesus Christ said, and tell the truth about it, and get away with it, if he had a human father.

* Jesus disclaimed a human father to His mother’s face when confronted by Mary.

* What is amazing about the verse is that Jesus said He needed to be about His Fathers business.

He was in the temple.

Joseph was a carpenter.

Jesus wasn’t in a carpenter shop, He was in the temple.

“His Fathers business!”

* Jesus never prayed “Our Father.”

He taught his disciples to pray “Our Father,” but Jesus Christ prayed when He addressed God the Father “my Father” and “Holy Father.” Jesus never included Himself as a sinner.

Look what the Lord said about the disciples.

* Luke being a licensed physician, carefully explained the virgin birth in Luke 1: 26-35.

And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.

And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

Look at what Mary asked the angel in one of the verses.

Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

Mary is saying as a good, pure Jewish woman that she is still a virgin. She was a virgin, professed

to be a virgin and to have no carnal knowledge with a man. The angel carefully explained that the

Holy Ghost would Father the child.

* Christ, at no time, confessed Joseph as His father, but everywhere confessed God to be His Father, and all the writers of the gospels emphasize His Deity.

Jesus’ favorite term for Himself was “the Son of man,” but He never called Himself “a Son of man.”

What was the purpose of the virgin birth?

I. The purpose of the virgin birth was to reveal God

John 1:18

No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

Jesus came to declare and reveal the Father to men as a God of compassion and love and as a holy God who was sinless.

The purpose of the virgin birth was to bridge the chasm between God and man.

II. The purpose of the virgin birth was to save men

Hebrews 2:14-16

Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

Christ’s purpose in taking on the nature of man, and becoming like a man, was to taste death for every man, and to take upon Him the seed of Abraham in order that He might suffer as a man and die as a man and be tempted as a man and go through what a man goes through.

Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;

III. The purpose of the virgin birth was to rescue the whole creation

And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

To be the kind, compassionate, loving Saviour and Redeemer that He is, God had to take the place of His fallen creation.

No other plan would work.

Man is separated from God.

God, to be holy and just and righteous, cannot have fellowship with sinful man.

The problem is only solved by God Himself so loving the world that He came down and produced Himself in the flesh as the Son of man and the Son of God.

He came down and identified with the human race as one of the sons of Adam, yet without sin.

Only the virgin birth solves the problem of a sinless God redeeming a sinful creation.

* If man is depraved, then he needs a Saviour to redeem him.

If the first three chapters of the Bible are right, then the last three are right.

You cannot have a heaven for saved people and hell for unsaved people if nobody is unsaved.

Salvation and the virgin birth

* Salvation is closely linked with the doctrine of the virgin birth.

If Jesus were not born of a virgin, then you are still a lost sinner and so am I, and nobody can be saved from anything.

If Jesus Christ had a father like you have, then He was a sinner like you are, and if He died like you die and was buried like you are going to be buried, then do you know how He is going to come up?

He is not coming up! You don’t come up either, you stay down!

* It is an undeniable truth.

The virgin birth is taught in the Bible.

We accept the inspiration of the Scriptures and believe this teaching as absolutely so.

It is the unchangeable truth.

The doctrine of the virgin birth stands with the Scriptures and does not change with the changing times, thoughts, and theories of mankind.

* God is Immutable.

He won’t change in these matters.

The virgin birth is a doctrine that is essential to the plan of salvation.

Without the virgin born Saviour the salvation of one soul is utterly impossible.

Without the virgin birth salvation is worthless.

If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.

But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.

For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.

* The virgin birth is an unconditional truth.

Romans 10:9,10

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

* The Scripture above says you are to confess Jesus Christ as Lord, and if He had a human father, He is not Lord, He is not the Saviour. “Immanuel” means “God with us,” and that’s not true if God did not pay a visit down here.

Objections to the virgin birth

* Some people object to the doctrine of the virgin birth and say Jesus did not personally claim to be virgin born.

He might not had said it verbatim, but He did strongly infer to it.

* If you believe the Bible it is hard to study the verse above and not see the virgin birth.

Let’s look at a few objections just for the sake of saying we did.

Whatever somebody else say’s about it isn’t going to change the truth or our belief in it one way or the other.

• Scientist do not accept the virgin birth.

Granted, to be fair to our brothers and sisters that are saved scientists and believe the virgin birth, we salute you.

But as a whole, in todays society, science thinks of spirituality as a fairytale and especially a miracle such as a virgin birth.

Scientist say that it is not biologically true.

That’s because Jesus did not come by natural conception but by a miracle conception according to the word of God.

The fact that scientists do not accept it because it is not “biologically true” is neither here nor there.

God’s word gives us permission to disregard such foolish thinking on their part.

Just because 150,000 so-called scientists say the account was not true because it was not “biologically proven” means “diddely squat.”

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

• Educated scholars reject the virgin birth account

These Bible truth rejecters declare the virgin birth to not have credibility because it was a miracle.

Well, after all, isn’t all life a miracle?

Isn’t life in itself wonderful and mysterious?

People that say that it cannot be accepted because it is a miracle are being dishonest.

How do they explain their own lives?

you have to believe in the eternity of matter to believe that your life is not a miracle.

To say that everything is explainable, and everything is rational, and everything is phenomenally true, that can be explained, you have to believe in the eternity of matter.

Blabbidy, blabbidy, blab, blab, blab!

It is a mistake to only believe in the things that you can explain!

Here’s a good one!

“Once you were a tadpole and you began to begin, then you were a frogwith your tail tucked in, next you were a monkey in a banyan tree,and now you’re a doctor with a Ph.D.”

You tell any unadulterated child he came from a monkey, He’ll laugh at you! Try it! He will look at you and say, “UhhUhh, you came from a monkey!”

You tell any unadulterated child that Jesus was born of the “virgin” Mary, and you will get no resistance at all.

Try it! “Childlike Faith.”

• Modern theologians do not accept the virgin birth

That does not alter the fact of its truth. It is taught in Scripture, it is taught in prophecy, and it was fulfilled in history.

But most of all, it is found to be true by the regenerated sinner who becomes a child of God by receiving the child that God begat.

“Though Christ in Bethlehem a million times be born, if He be not born in thee, thy soul is still

forlorn.”

* In closing, there is good news.

The virgin birth can be empirically proven.

Just get down on your knees, ask Buddha, Mohammed, ideology, any religion, any belief, or any transcendental foolishness you were ever taught to save you and wash you in his blood and make you a new creature and get up and see what happens.

See if when you get up you have two natures.

Then, if you don’t get the desired results, get back down on your knees and call upon the everlasting Lord God Almighty, the

virgin born Lord Jesus Christ to save your soul and wash you in His blood and make you a new creature and regenerate you by His Holy Spirit, and then get up and see what happens.
