Rejecting the Deity of Jesus

JOHN 1:1-5 AS GOD AND CREATOR, HOPE IS FOUND IN JESUS. JOHN 1:6-18 JESUS IS THE SOURCE OF GRACE AND TRUTH, AND MAN MUST CHOOSE IF HE WILL BELIEVE IN THIS JESUS. JOHN 1:19-2:11 (DISCIPLES FOLLOWING JESUS AND MIRACLE OF CANA) THE REALITY OF JESUS (AS REVEALED BY THE MANY WITNESSES) SHOULD LEAD YOU TO BELIEF. JOHN 2:12-25 (CLEANSING THE TEMPLE) MAN MUST BE WILLING TO ACCEPT WHAT IS TRUE ABOUT JESUS. JOHN 3:1-21 (NICODEMUS) BELIEVE IN JESUS BECAUSE THE CONSEQUENCES HAVE ETERNAL IMPACT! JOHN 3:22-36 (TESTIMONY OF JOHN THE BAPTIST) EXALT JESUS THAT OTHERS MAY BELIEVE HE IS TRUTH. JOHN 4:1-42 (WOMAN AT THE WELL) ALLOW GOD TO USE YOUR TESTIMONY TO POINT OTHERS TO CHRIST! JOHN 4:43-54 (HEALING ROYAL OFFICIAL’S SON) GENUINE BELIEF GOES BEYOND CURIOSITY TO ACCEPTING THE REALITY THAT JESUS IS THE SAVIOR OF THE WORLD. JOHN 5 (HEALING ON THE SABBATH) REJECTING THE AUTHORITY OF JESUS CHRIST RESULTS IN YOUR ETERNAL CONDEMNATION. JOHN 6 (BREAD OF LIFE) EACH OF US MUST CHOOSE WHETHER TO ACCEPT THE SOVEREIGNTY OF JESUS FOR OUR SALVATION. JOHN 7 (LIVING WATER) EVALUATE YOUR RESPONSE TO JESUS BEING FROM THE FATHER— IS IT BELIEF? Rejecting the Deity of Jesus JOHN 8 REJECTING THE DEITY OF JESUS 1. Jesus declares that he is the light of world – the giver of eternal life. 12 2. Rejecting Jesus’ witness is a rejection of God Himself. 13-20 3. Rejecting the deity of Christ results in spiritual death. 21-29 REJECTING THE DEITY OF JESUS 4. Belief in Jesus leads to spiritual freedom. 36 30- 5. False piety leads to not accepting the reality of one’s condition before God. 37-47 6. Rejecting the deity of Christ leads to opposing the person and work of Christ. 48-59 DO NOT REJECT THE DEITY OF CHRIST— BELIEVE THAT YOU MAY BE FREE FROM SIN. APPLICATION 1. Rejection of truth leads to opposition against truth—don’t be surprised by it. 2. Recognize that the deity of Christ will be one of the core doctrines that is opposed by people rejecting God. 3. In leading people to understand God, realize there are core doctrines that must be accepted and defended vigorously. APPLICATION 4. In the middle of opposition that is caused by standing for Christ, remember that opposition can only go as far as God’s plan will allow. 5. Be more concerned about people rejecting truth than rejecting you. ACCEPT AND DEFEND THE DEITY OF JESUS!
