Ephesians
New Living Translation (Chapter 5)
15 So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. 16 Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. 17 Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.

Values help guide us to grow in the right ways.

Knowing your values will help you know your victories.

What we reach people with is what we keep them with.

Values set the culture and culture will eat intentions for breakfast.

South Creek Church of God existed to love people and lead them to new life in Christ. This is our mission and our why.

Our vision is to be a church community rooted in Jesus, who is persistent in prayer, gracious in love, radical in generosity, eager to serve, committed to community, and focused on His Kingdom as we seek to love people and lead them to new life in Christ.

Our Core Values are WHO WE ARE and point us toward who we want to become. They are not just what we do, they are the life blood that runs through the veins of South Creek. We don’t just want to speak about our core values, we want to live out our core values. Below are our seven core values and what they mean for us. As we seek to accomplish our mission of loving people and leading them to new life in Christ, these values help us have targets to point toward as we continue to move forward and they serve as a framework to ensure we are making the main things, the main things.
Rooted in Jesus
We believe that be planted and rooted to something that is not changing is vital to spiritual growth and wholeness in your life. Jesus is the only truly constant we can root ourselves too that will lead to life and life to the fullest. So while the world will cling to their own values and truths, we will root ourselves to Jesus and His Truth. We will seek to abide and grow in Him. (Luke 6:43-35, Colossians 2:6-7, Jeremiah17:7-8)
Colossians
The New International Version (Chapter 2)
6 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, 7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
Persistent in Prayer
We believe that prayer is the lifeblood of a believer’s life and The Church’s life. Prayer is simply, communication and communion with God. We believe pray changes things, especially us. So as we see a world that is inconsistent in many areas of life, we want to be consistent in what matters most, especially prayer. (Matthew 6:5-12, Luke 11:5-13, Ephesians 6:18)
Ephesians
The New International Version (Chapter 6)
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
Gracious in Love
We believe that chiefly we as Christ-followers are to be known by our love and graciousness. To be gracious in love is to be reflecting what and who our savior is to a world that is often not loving and not gracious. In a world that tends to have lots of conditions put on their love, we want to reflect God’s unconditional love. We want to be known for people second chance people who do not have a limit on our love, forgiveness, and grace, just like Jesus. (1 Corinthians 13:1-8,1 John 4:7-12, Ephesians 2:1-9)
1 Corinthians
The New International Version (Chapter 13)
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails.
Radical in Generosity
We believe that being generous is core to who God is and what it means to follow Jesus. Generosity is simply living openhandedly with our time, talents, and treasure. In a world that tend to look out only for their own interests and seeks to accumulate, we want to be a community that sees all we have as God’s already and that we want to be willing give of any of it to see God’s Kingdom come and will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. (Matthew 6:19-24, 2 Corinthians 9:6-8, Luke 6:38)
2 corinthians
The New International Version (Chapter 9)
6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
Eager to Serve
We believe that it is impossible to follow Jesus and not serve others, but we also believe its not supposed to be a obligation to have to dreadfully fulfill but to eagerly and joyfully enter into. We believe that God has equipped us with gifts and passions to help serve His Kingdom and to love our neighbors. So while the rest of the world look fulfill their desires, we look to Christ to grow in us a desire to joyfully serve just like Jesus. (Matthew 20:25-28, Matthew 23:11-12, Galatians 5:13-14)
Galatians
The New International Version (Chapter 5)
13 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. 14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” k
Committed To Community
We believe that were not made to do life alone. In a would of people seek to isolate we want to draw closer together. In a world where people choose to be uncommitted, we want to be committed, especially to being together with each other! We believe we are better together and we honor our Heavenly Father when we seek to be with His children. (Psalm 133:1, Acts 2:42-47, Romans 12:10-13)
Romans

10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13 Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

Focused on The Kingdom
We believe that Jesus has called us to seek first His kingdom. To pursue making our community look more like heaven and go out and pursue the Great Mission and make disciples. So while the world will tell us to focus on and pursue building our own kingdom, we will focus on advance His kingdom. (Matthew 6:25-34, Romans 14:17, Matthew 13:44-46)
Matthew
The New International Version (Chapter 6)

FAQ’s
Why are we doing these projects?
Our building is now over 15 years old and while we have tried to update and upgrade things as needed, we are starting to see more needs and we are wanting to help best steward our facility well and we want to be forward thinking.
When will we start the projects?
The cool thing about Heart for the House is that we really can begin a project as soon as we have the money for a project, meaning we could can do projects before a phase is fully funded.
What happens if you have overestimated on a project?
We will just roll those dollars over into the next phase that is being funded.
What happens if you have underestimated on a project?
We have tried to estimate on a slightly higher side with the hopes that we don’t run into issues but when in doubt we will seek guidance of the governance board and share with the congregation if needed.
Why can’t these things be funded by the general budget?
While God has been good to our church financially in this season, we are not operating with excess amount of surplus. These additional funds allow us to deal with some needed updates without putting stress on our budget and it allows us to pursue some dreams God has placed on our hearts.
Should I move my tithe over to Heart For The House?
Please no! Heart For The House is a generosity initiative that is designed to be giving that is over and above your normal tithes and offerings.
What is the timeline?
Our commitment Sunday is February 25th but people can give before then and our goal is complete Heart For The House by the end of 2024.
