Navigating Smartphones and Social Media

Thank you for coming to this breakout, students! I am looking forward to diving into this important topic with you all.

This topic is one that is near and dear to me, because it is one that I wrestle with on a weekly, maybe even daily basis.

Do you ever feel like your phone is controlling your life?

Do you ever find yourself mindlessly scrolling social media for hours on end?

Do you find yourself getting frustrated with these things, wishing there was a way to gain more control?

Well, you’re in the right place. And the good news is: there is hope. There are ways that you can regain control and use your smartphone and social media in a healthy way.

The main question I want us to address today is this:

How can we use our smartphones and social media in a way that honors Jesus?

This is the foundation of what we will talk on today.

Now, this question presupposes that technology and social media can be used in a way that honors Jesus.

I believe that just like anything, smartphones and social media are tools. The way we use the tool determines if it honors Jesus or not.

We must use these devices and services intentionally.

Intentionally meaning on purpose, with a purpose in mind.
