War with the Saints
Rev 13:7-9
7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
War – (gr) pol'-em-os (Pol-lee-moss). a fight, a battle, a dispute, strife, quarrel.
Saints – (gr) hag'-ee-os(Hah-gee-oss). Sacred (physically, pure, morally blameless, or religious, ceremonially, consecrated); (most) holy (one, thing), Saint. A Saint is a person who has repented for their sins and the sins have been forgiven by God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. The behavior has changed. You now have a Holy relationship and have been adopted into the Family of God.
Overcome – (gr) nik-ah'-o(ni-ki-o). To subdue (literally or figuratively): To conquer, To prevail, get the victory. To overcome; you must fight to win. Christians, that hold fast to their faith even unto death against the power of their foes, and temptations and persecutions.
This use of the word overcome means the beast will get the victory over some of the saints; meaning they will die for the faith they hold in Jesus Christ.
Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. KJV
Rev 14:12 12 Here [comes in a call for] the steadfastness of the saints [the patience, the endurance of the people of God], those who [habitually] keep God's commandments and [their] faith in Jesus. AMP
8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
9 If any man have an ear, let him hear. KJV.
Rev 13:7-9
7 He was further permitted to wage war on God's holy people (the saints) and to overcome them. And power was given him to extend his authority over every tribe and people and tongue and nation, [Dan 7:21,25.]
Dan 7:21, 25.
21 As I looked, this horn made war with the saints and prevailed over them [Rev 13:7-9.]
25 And he shall speak words against the Most High [God] and shall wear out the saints of the Most High and think to change the time [of sacred feasts and holy days] and the law; and the saints shall be given into his hand for a time, two times, and half a time [three and one-half years]. [Rev 13:1-6.] AMP
8 And all the inhabitants of the earth will fall down in adoration and pay him homage, everyone whose name has not been recorded in the Book of Life of the Lamb that was slain [in sacrifice] from the foundation of the world.
9 If anyone is able to hear, let him listen: AMP.
