I Am The Gate /Door

John 10:7

Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep.

The statement “I am the gate” is in Verse seven, but to under stand the meaning behind this we need to look at

John 10:7-9

Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep.

All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them.

I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved.[a] They will come in and go out, and find pasture.

In these passages Jesus is using the metaphor of a sheepfold to describe his relationship with us his followers, you and I. He is the gate to which we can enter into safety and Salvation.

Jesus stands to protect us from thieves and robbers which we understand him to be the authority over us all. You see in the sheep pen, the Shepard in this case Jesus, is the Gate to God’s salvation for us. Which makes him, our way of safety and security for us. If we look at

John 14:6

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

This verse reminds us Jesus is our only way to the Father. This is why we join Jesus’s divine life with ours. Because Jesus is the truth and the only living way to the father.

Let’s look at everything we do in life. There is a path to succeed in everything we do, To play base ball in the major league’s we just don’t run down to the Wall Mart and pick up a glove and run up to Cleveland and say here I am put me in I play 3rd base. You have spend years practising working your way to the majors. if you want to be the best farmer you don’t just Jump in the tractor and say hear I am and not do any of the research and work it takes to be the best. With that being said how do receive eternal life? We need to follow the path God has laid out for us, to get to eternal life that only Goes through the gate keeper, and that’s Jesus Christ. So what has to happen for us to receive Eternal life? We need to let our old self die and be born anew in Jesus Christ. Have we ever made this step? Have you ever given up the way we live our life as sinners and, live as sinners saved by Grace? you see we as humans as long as we are on this earth will always sin. But the difference when we give our old life up, and except a new life in Jesus Christ. We strive to be more like Jesus, and will be given grace when we fall short. When we ask for forgiveness from our heart. I am thinking we are in the Lenten season here worshiping Jesus for all he does for us in our life. We are begining to build up to the day he dies on the cross, and then 3 days later risses from the dead. We are taking 7 weeks to prepare for the resurrection of Jesus Christ. My question this evening is have you given your life to Jesus Christ? I am not talking about going to church on Sunday because that’s just what good people do on Sunday. I’m talking about walking away from our empty and lost life and asking God for forgiveness, asking him to become our gate keeper protecting us from all evil and making a way to eternal life for us. At this time I going to ask everyone to bow your heads close your eyes, If you have never ask Jesus for forgiveness let’s do it right now. with all heads bowed and all eyes closed. If anyone wants to ask Jesus into your heart tonight right where you are setting please raise your hand. So we all can pray over you. If you have given your life to christ but feel yourself slipping and would just like to reaffirm your life to christ raise your hand with all heads bowed and eyes closed. If you feel you need to talk to someone we have a few pastors in the church who will be glad to pray for you. They will be available after the service. I’m asking all who are setting with heads down and eyes closed would you please pray for those who are asking God into their hearts right now. Jesus is among us offering his hand of salvation. so let’s take a moment and pray for those making that commitment right now.

Pray over congregation.

Amen
