Trusting God
Fasting
Trials
If God called you in, He is the only one that should be calling you out.
It’s been clear that this year was going to be a fight.
Some are fighting for their life
Some of fighting for belief
In order to fight back, you need to know what you’re fighting.
Jesus promised challenges (John 16:33
John 16:33 AMP
I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]
Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.”
What God allows, He purposes
Job 1:6–12 AMP
Now there was a day when the sons (the angels) of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan (the adversary and accuser) also came among them. And the Lord said to Satan, From where did you come? Then Satan answered the Lord, From going to and fro on the earth and from walking up and down on it. And the Lord said to Satan, Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who [reverently] fears God and abstains from and shuns evil [because it is wrong]? Then Satan answered the Lord, Does Job [reverently] fear God for nothing? Have You not put a hedge about him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have conferred prosperity and happiness upon him in the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. But put forth Your hand now and touch all that he has, and he will curse You to Your face. And the Lord said to Satan (the adversary and the accuser), Behold, all that he has is in your power, only upon the man himself put not forth your hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord.
Acts 13:1–3 AMP
NOW IN the church (assembly) at Antioch there were prophets (inspired interpreters of the will and purposes of God) and teachers: Barnabas, Symeon who was called Niger [Black], Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen a member of the court of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, Separate now for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them. Then after fasting and praying, they put their hands on them and sent them away.
We have some inaccurate expectations when God asks us to do something
We have a movie vision
Mistakes I’ve made here
Acts 14:1–2 AMP
NOW AT Iconium [also Paul and Barnabas] went into the Jewish synagogue together and spoke with such power that a great number both of Jews and of Greeks believed (became Christians); But the unbelieving Jews [who rejected their message] aroused the Gentiles and embittered their minds against the brethren.
We have to pay attention to fruit - don’t just look at the challenge
You have people who can have 6 months of promise fulfilled and then quit when something goes wrong
Paul and Barnabas show us what it means to fight back - its all about FAITH
The only way to learn strong faith is to endure great trials. I have learned my faith by standing firm amid severe testings.

The enemy will often distort good works
Acts 14:8–18 “Now at Lystra a man sat who found it impossible to use his feet, for he was a cripple from birth and had never walked. He was listening to Paul as he talked, and [Paul] gazing intently at him and observing that he had faith to be healed, Shouted at him, saying, Stand erect on your feet! And he leaped up and walked. And the crowds, when they saw what Paul had done, lifted up their voices, shouting in the Lycaonian language, The gods have come down to us in human form! They called Barnabas Zeus, and they called Paul, because he led in the discourse, Hermes [god of speech]. And the priest of Zeus, whose [temple] was at the entrance of the town, brought bulls and garlands to the [city’s] gates and wanted to join the people in offering sacrifice. But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of it, they tore their clothing and dashed out among the crowd, shouting, Men, why are you doing this? We also are [only] human beings, of nature like your own, and we bring you the good news (Gospel) t…”
God showed me we do this to people who God has put in leadership at the church
We make God out of pastors and leaders and get hurt when they prove human
We make gods out of people that God put in our path…
Acts 14:19 AMP
But some Jews arrived there from Antioch and Iconium; and having persuaded the people and won them over, they stoned Paul and [afterward] dragged him out of the town, thinking that he was dead.
The accusations will follow you if you don’t deal with them.
People will be fickle - praise you one minute, stone you the next
But remember, that’s what they did to Jesus
Acts 14:20 AMP
But the disciples formed a circle about him, and he got up and went back into the town; and on the morrow he went on with Barnabas to Derbe.
The disciples formed a circle around him - they did not go and attack those who stoned Paul
Paul got up and went back in
Acts 14:21–22 AMP
When they had preached the good news (Gospel) to that town and made disciples of many of the people, they went back to Lystra and Iconium and Antioch, Establishing and strengthening the souls and the hearts of the disciples, urging and warning and encouraging them to stand firm in the faith, and [telling them] that it is through many hardships and tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.
Paul went back to every city that rejected him.
Paul made an impact because of the wounds he endured, not avoided
Your reward is THROUGH the hardship.
You can’t run from it, avoid it, go around it.
The Kingdom is through the pain!
That’s why God allowed Job to suffer.
