#1 Being Born Again

Romans 6:4–7 “Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; for he who has died has been justified from sin.”
Romans 8:8–11 “and those who are in the flesh are not able to please God. However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. But if Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.”
Romans 6:12–13 “Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, and do not go on presenting your members to sin as instruments of unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.”
But that’s not all. Turn to Ephesians.
Ephesians 2:1 “And you were dead in your transgressions and sins,”
Ephesians 2:4–6 “But God, being rich in mercy because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,”
Ephesians 2:10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.”
And then turn to Colossians 2.
Colossians 2:12–13 “having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. And you being dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive with Him, having graciously forgiven us all our transgressions.”
What’s all this telling us? It’s telling us each of us were born on planet Earth. At some point we began to learn Yahweh’s commands. Then for whatever reason, we chose to resist their truth, then reject them and finally rebel against them. These transgressions led to sin. Sin is violating Yahweh’s commands. As a result, Yahweh saw us as dead. BUT, when He showed us the TRUTH while we were dead in our transgressions, and we chose to put our trust in His Son Yeshua, something SUPERNATURAL happened!
When we believed with a behavior corresponding to that belief, Yahweh saw us as...
Co-Crucified with Christ
Co-Dying with Christ
Co-Buried with Christ
Co-Resurrected with Christ
Co-Ascending with Christ
Co Seated in Heaven with Christ
We have been born from above with New Life in us. From Yahweh’s perspective, and that’s the only one that matters, we’re alive in Christ, and our TRUE citizenship is in Heaven. Let’s let that sink in for a moment.
Our active belief in Yeshua is what causes us to be born again.

#2 Dual Citizenship: Heavenly Citizenship & Earthly Connections

Philippians 3:20 “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,”
As Believers, our home country and citizenship is in Heaven.
