INTRODUCTION:

G-MORING LIFE CHURCH
Next week we will be moving back to finish our Ephesians series.
Today, I want to wrap up this mini-series on healing.
Three weeks ago, / God the Compassionate healer. God is moved by compassion towards our brokenness.
Last week / Operating in the authority of Jesus name – We must be a people who are submitted to His Lordship and not our emotions. All healings are for His Glory!
——————————————————————

TODAY!

We are looking at two important gifts of the Spirit that make praying for the sick effective.
· We need to know that God is a compassionate healer – know it firmly.
· We need to operate under the Authority of Jesus when we go in the authority of Jesus.
· We need to be focused on His glory!

AND THEN WE NEED TO LISTEN AND LOOK!

Jesus is our best example in this.
John 5:19 NASB95
Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner.
John 12:49–50 NASB95
“For I did not speak on My own initiative, but the Father Himself who sent Me has given Me a commandment as to what to say and what to speak. “I know that His commandment is eternal life; therefore the things I speak, I speak just as the Father has told Me.”

MAIN POINT:

God has given us two beautiful gifts through the HS to bring healing and deliverance in the authority of Jesus to a broken world.
These two gifts function when we are looking and listening to the Holy Spirit - We only want to do what He is doing and say what He is saying.

THE TWO GIFTS I WANT US TO LOOK AT TODAY ARE:

The gift of discerning spirits
The gift of knowledge
These gifts are listed in 1 cor 12 and are manifestations of the Holy Spirit available to all those who are in submission to the Lordship of Jesus.
———————————————————————————-

TWO STORIES THAT WILL HELP US UNDERSTAND HOW THESE MANIFESTATIONS OF THE SPIRIT WORK.

DISCERNMENT OF SPIRITS:
Luke 13:10–17 NASB95
And He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. And there was a woman who for eighteen years had had a sickness caused by a spirit; and she was bent double, and could not straighten up at all. When Jesus saw her, He called her over and said to her, “Woman, you are freed from your sickness.” And He laid His hands on her; and immediately she was made erect again and began glorifying God. But the synagogue official, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, began saying to the crowd in response, “There are six days in which work should be done; so come during them and get healed, and not on the Sabbath day.” But the Lord answered him and said, “You hypocrites, does not each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the stall and lead him away to water him? “And this woman, a daughter of Abraham as she is, whom Satan has bound for eighteen long years, should she not have been released from this bond on the Sabbath day?” As He said this, all His opponents were being humiliated; and the entire crowd was rejoicing over all the glorious things being done by Him.
Not all illnesses are strictly caused by a physical reason..
We need to discern; is this a physical issue I am to pray for or is this a spirit I am to pray out?
Sin in our lives can give the enemy a foothold and then like termites they fester and destroy.
Common Sins that lead to unwanted company:
Sexual sins / spiritualism / Resentment / Anger-Bitterness / Jealousy
HOW DO WE PRAY FOR THESE SITUATIONS
Non-believers – The first priority is the soul not the body – Our goal is to lead them to Jesus.
We pray in the authority of Jesus, and we tell them to leave.
In believers – James the brother of Jesus says this,
James 5:13-16
James 5:13–16 NASB95
Is anyone among you suffering? Then he must pray. Is anyone cheerful? He is to sing praises. Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him. Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.
We find freedom when we confess our sins one to another and in that freedom the devil loses his foothold, and our bodies are made right.

LASTLY, LET’S LOOK AT THE GIFT OF KNOWLEDGE.

The gift of knowledge is when God gives you information you are not privy to.
This gift is often used in healing and may manifest in many ways.
- A pain in your body appears while you are interceding for a person.
- A knowing comes to your mind that is unexplained.
- You see an image in your mind or even over a person.
- Etc.
Mark 10:46–52 NASB95
Then they came to Jericho. And as He was leaving Jericho with His disciples and a large crowd, a blind beggar named Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, was sitting by the road. When he heard that it was Jesus the Nazarene, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Many were sternly telling him to be quiet, but he kept crying out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” And Jesus stopped and said, “Call him here.” So they called the blind man, saying to him, “Take courage, stand up! He is calling for you.” Throwing aside his cloak, he jumped up and came to Jesus. And answering him, Jesus said, “What do you want Me to do for you?” And the blind man said to Him, “Rabboni, I want to regain my sight!” And Jesus said to him, “Go; your faith has made you well.” Immediately he regained his sight and began following Him on the road.
Bartimaeus cries out to Jesus for healing
Jesus sends a message through His disciples to bring Bartimaeus to Him. The Disciples deliver the message
Bartimaeus responds with faith
Jesus heals Him.

HOW THIS MAY WORK IN THE PRESENT

A person is crying out to Jesus for healing
Jesus delivers a message to you one of His disciples – A word of knowledge
In obedience you take a step of faith and deliver that message
The message stirs up faith in the one who has been crying out
Through the conduit of faith, Jesus heals the person.
—————————————————————————

Conclusion – Call band up

Call for the sick, emotional, mental, physical and addiction to come forward.
Cry out to Jesus for healing and deliverance
The rest - listen and look for the HS
Then in faith go minister to the person God showed you and speak the words God gives you.
