Review & Overview

1. Previous Study’s Review

In chp.34 Moses went up the Mountain of God for the 5th time…
He received the 10 commandments again… as well as many other instructions from the Lord…
We saw that Moses’ face was shining… glowing… radiating with the glory of the Lord…

2. Current Study’s Overview

in Ex.35-40 we’ll be looking at the construction of the Tabernacle as well as the various articles for the Tabernacle.…
And the Priestly Garments for those who minister in the Tabernacle…
So the balance of the book involves & revolves around the Work that will be done for the Lord… 7 things:

1. Israel’s Obedience Involves their Priority Vs. 1-3

So what is their priority? To keep the Sabbath rest.
This is the 4th commandment from Ex.20:8 dealing with the Shabbat…
Exodus 20:8 NKJV
8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
APPLICATION: The point, don’t neglect the worship of the Lord… even if your doing work for the Lord… even when you are obedient don’t forget to your priority. Rest…
We can get so busy serving the Lord in so many different areas we forget to stop and spend some time with the Lord… time in His Word… time in Prayer…
A time of simply being still and knowing He is God…
Psalm 46:10 (NKJV)
10 Be still, and know that I am God…
I think of a story in Luke about Mary & Martha…
Luke 10:38–39 NKJV
38 Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word.
Luke 10:40–41 NKJV
40 But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.” 41 And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things.
Luke 10:42 NKJV
42 But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”
APPLICATION: As you can see, Jesus considers spending time with Him the HIGHEST priority, even over serving Him.
Because at the end of the day, our time with Him motivates us to server Him.
There is an infinite amount of value we get when we spend time with the Lord, listening to His words, and choosing what is truly necessary.
If you are taking notes, there are a couple of things I want you to know about the Sabbath day rest:

1. The Purpose for the Sabbath

Mark 2:27–28 NKJV
27 And He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. 28 Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath.”
Here we have Jesus’ perspective on the Sabbath highlighting the fact that the Sabbath is supposed to be a blessing for humanity.
It is designed to meet our needs to rest, rejuvenation, and spend time with the Lord.
It’s not meant to be a burden or obligation.

2. The Foreshadow of the Sabbath

Hebrews 4:9–11 NKJV
9 There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. 10 For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His. 11 Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience.
Colossians 2:15–16 NKJV
15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. 16 So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths,
Here the Sabbath is a foreshadow and it points to a greater rest found in Christ, eternal life. Which can only be found in Jesus.
APPLICATION: At the end of the day, true rest is synonymous to eternal life which can only be found in Jesus Christ.
Who needs rest? Go to Jesus…
Matthew 11:28–30 NKJV
28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
