Men can I just begin by saying we are called to lead our families spiritually.
God designed it as such and demands it as such.
Please do be satisfied to say my wife…she is the one who knows the Word. She is the one who studies…I just don’t like to read or study.
It may be the case now…but don’t be satisfied to let it remain.
Malachi 4 ESV
1 “For behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven, when all the arrogant and all evildoers will be stubble. The day that is coming shall set them ablaze, says the Lord of hosts, so that it will leave them neither root nor branch. 2 But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings. You shall go out leaping like calves from the stall. 3 And you shall tread down the wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet, on the day when I act, says the Lord of hosts. 4 “Remember the law of my servant Moses, the statutes and rules that I commanded him at Horeb for all Israel. 5 “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes. 6 And he will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the land with a decree of utter destruction.”

Malachi 3:14 (ESV)
14 You have said, ‘It is vain to serve God. What is the profit of our keeping his charge or of walking as in mourning before the Lord of hosts?
But God’s response is given here: “The day is coming.”
His response is not one that they want: “shall set them ablaze, says the Lord of hosts, so that it will leave them neither root nor branch.”
Notice he says: “like a furnace”
The furnace, often heated for the purpose of purification.

Isaiah 5:24 ESV
24 Therefore, as the tongue of fire devours the stubble, and as dry grass sinks down in the flame, so their root will be as rottenness, and their blossom go up like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord of hosts, and have despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

Isaiah 40:24 ESV
24 Scarcely are they planted, scarcely sown, scarcely has their stem taken root in the earth, when he blows on them, and they wither, and the tempest carries them off like stubble.

There is a Coming Restoration for the People of God

Malachi 4:2 ESV
2 But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings. You shall go out leaping like calves from the stall.

The people were in darkness, but God would reveal Himself in the Son.
Matthew 4:16 ESV
