LIFE INTERRUPTED.
THE LORD’S NEVER TOO BUSY FOR US
OUR NEED WON’T TAKE AWAY FROM WHAT HE’S DOING FOR SOMEONE ELSE.
God wants us to live in His newness every day. Some of the examples I’m using to preach these messages are just a very few of the things we might go through on any given day or in any given lifetime. The key is to recognize that no matter how bad OR HOW GOOD life is or seems to be, God wants to be the newness in the middle of all of it.
AND GOD IN THE MIDDLE OF IT WILL MAKE IT ALL BETTER.
Actually, let me rephrase that. I read something one time that said (paraphrase) The problem with too many believers is that they want to add Jesus to the center of their lives. What we really need to do is allow Jesus to touch EVERY part of our lives.
We don’t just need to call on the Lord in the middle of the big problems, or rejoice in the BIG victories, We need to include Him in every part of our lives.
Years ago there was a movie called 50 first dates. The girl in the movie had major short term memory loss from a car accident, so every day was a mystery, a new beginning, a new opportunity to be amazed at life.
What if everyday was brand new for us? What if we woke up every day surprised at the goodness and majesty of God?
It starts by giving up ctrl, changing the way we go about life, getting rid of things that don’t belong, and resting in Him.
We have to be willing to “Interrupt” Him knowing He cares and will take care of our needs. It may not be how we think, but if we trust that He is All Powerful and loves us, whatever happens will benefit us and His purpose.
Obviously, this morning I am going to continue this theme of New
Beginnings.
By show of hands, how many of you have ever been lonely?
I think if we are all honest there are times in our lives where we feel alone, scared, confused, in need…
I was scrolling social media the other day and I saw a post from one of my previous students that said, “I never felt more alone in my entire life.”
That’s heartbreaking!!!
There are times that we just need a friend.
Times when we need someone to listen to us gripe, complain, bellyache, REJOICE!
We were not created to be alone.
I am going to preach this morning from the title…
“LONLINESS INTERRUPTED”
Genesis 2:18 ESV
18 Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”
In the Garden, God came down and walked with Man in the cool of the evening.
For thousands of years God had systems in place to keep people from being alone through family units, temple worship, and community in general.
Unfortunately, the brokenness of mankind made many of these systems less than ideal and even as we witness today, those systems just have a tendency to fall apart WHEN WE DON’T PUT IN THE WORK TO MAINTAIN THEM.
BUT just like everything else in life, GOD HAD A PLAN!
2 weeks ago I preached from John 19:30… “It is finished.” The single greatest event to happen in human history since the beginning of human history!
Jesus is unarguably The only way to eternal life.
John 14:6
Acts 4:12
BUT, there are many ways to Jesus. Saying that out loud is always scary because of all of the heresy that is out there.
Let me be VERY CLEAR, Jesus is the only way to salvation, the only way to the Father, and the only way to Heaven and eternal life.
Without Jesus, a person is bound to eternal death outside of the presence of God.
Even the worst sinner experienceS God here on earth. Through breath alone God is present in every life. In creation we see His invisible attributes, namely His eternal power and divine nature… (Romans 1:20)
I say all that to say and clarify that He is enough and more than enough, but He had and has more for us.
