Q19 Who is the Redeemer of God's elect? A19 The only Redeemer of God’s elect is the Lord Jesus Christ, who being the eternal Son of God, became man, and so was and continues to be God and man, in two distinct natures and one person forever (1 Timothy 2:5-6)

Attention grabbing introduction:

Because we are sinners we have a debt that must be paid to God
Romans 3:10–12“as it is written, “THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE; THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS, THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD; ALL HAVE TURNED ASIDE, TOGETHER THEY HAVE BECOME WORTHLESS; THERE IS NONE WHO DOES GOOD, THERE IS NOT EVEN ONE.””
But who can pay this debt? - there is none righteous? How will God’s wrath be satisfied?
Psalm 49:7–9 “Truly, no man can redeem his brother; He cannot give to God a ransom for him— For the redemption price for their soul is costly, And it ceases forever— That he should live on eternally, That he should not see corruption.”
Only God can satisfy His wrath against sin by pouring it upon Himself - He didn’t do this because we are good but because He is
Romans 5:6–10 “For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will hardly die for a righteous man, though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.”
God had to take on Human flesh and become more than God by becoming God and Man
Romans 3:26“for the demonstration of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.”

Question/Answer #2

Let’s do tonight’s question again: Q19 Who is the Redeemer of God's elect? A19 The only Redeemer of God’s elect is the Lord Jesus Christ, who being the eternal Son of God, became man, and so was and continues to be God and man, in two distinct natures and one person forever
1 Timothy 2:5–6“For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the witness for this proper time.”

Q5 How many Gods are there? A5 There is only One True God - Deuteronomy 6:4 “Hear, O Israel! Yahweh is our God, Yahweh is one!”
God has an elect group of people, chosen before the beginning of time that they would be saved Ephesians 1:4“just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him in love,”
God became more than God becoming fully God and fully Man

Question/Answer #3

Last time for tonight’s question: Q19 Who is the Redeemer of God's elect? A19 The only Redeemer of God’s elect is the Lord Jesus Christ, who being the eternal Son of God, became man, and so was and continues to be God and man, in two distinct natures and one person forever
1 Timothy 2:5–6“For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the witness for this proper time.”

Questions:

So why does this matter at all?
Those who try to save themselves will fail:
Galatians 2:16“nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified.”
We can know that God the Son’s work on the Cross satisfies God’s wrath and secures our salvation - salvation can never be lost because it was not earned.
John 10:27–30““My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish—ever; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. “My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. “I and the Father are one.””
Seeing as how God can unite Himself with Man we can know how He united us with Him forever
2 Peter 1:4 “For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.”
