Missions is over there and for that person, but not here and not for me. I believe that over the course of the last few weeks we have seen how this is just not the case, but we must add to that in a practical way if we are to develop a habit of being Mission Minded.
Parable of the Good Samaritan
Parable: Earthly story with a heavenly meaning
Luke 10:25–30a “And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” He said to him, “What is written in the Law? How do you read it?” And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” And he said to him, “You have answered correctly; do this, and you will live.” But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”” Jesus replied…

Missions is for everyone

Luke 10:31–32 “Now by chance a priest was going down that road, and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.”

To do

To receive

Paul apposes Peter
Galatians 2:11–14 “But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned. For before certain men came from James, he was eating with the Gentiles; but when they came he drew back and separated himself, fearing the circumcision party. And the rest of the Jews acted hypocritically along with him, so that even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy. But when I saw that their conduct was not in step with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas before them all, “If you, though a Jew, live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you force the Gentiles to live like Jews?””

Missions is compassion

Luke 10:33–34 a “But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion. He went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine.

Missions is sometimes going without

Luke 10:34 b Then he set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him.”

Missions often times costs a great deal

Luke 10:35 “And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take care of him, and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.’”
