Ephesians 1:17-19
Ephesians 1:17-19
Ephesians 1:17–19 “that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might”
This is a continuation of the prayer that Paul started in verse 15. Firstly, he had thanked the believers. Now, we will see the nature of the prayer. To paraphrase, we can that Paul wanted God to give the believers a spirit of wisdom and understanding in his knowledge. Paul wanted them to understand the hope of God’s calling, the riches of His inheritance, and his amazing power for them. In essence, this is a prayer of blessing.
John 14:13–14““Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. “If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.” ,
John 16:23–24 ““In that day you will not question Me about anything. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you. “Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full.”
Although we must remember, that one cannot truly gain wisdom and understanding without the Holy Spirit.
