Salvation Story

In Genesis (the beginning) God destroys His image with a flood. Genesis 6:5-7
Genesis 6:5–7 LEB
And Yahweh saw that the evil of humankind was great upon the earth, and every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was always only evil. And Yahweh regretted that he had made humankind on the earth, and he was grieved in his heart. And Yahweh said, “I will destroy humankind whom I created from upon the face of the earth, from humankind, to animals, to creeping things, and to the birds of heaven, for I regret that I have made them.”
The salvation story in this is that God always has a plan. Genesis 9:8-11
Genesis 9:8–11 LEB
And God said to Noah and to his sons with him, “As for me, behold, I am establishing my covenant with you and with your seed after you, and with every living creature that is with you—the birds, the animals, and every animal of the earth with you, from all that came out of the ark to all the animals of the earth. I am establishing my covenant with you, that never again will all flesh be cut off by the waters of a flood, nor will there ever be a flood that destroys the earth.”
God is teaching, we are his students; can you be taught?
Did you know the story of the rainbow, and it being a sign?
I want you to try and imagine being there when God brought the flood. People around you everywhere are ignoring the warning signs; you, yourself are oblivious to the destruction coming. Did you know that it had never rained from the sky before? Genesis 2:6
Genesis 2:6 LEB
but a stream would rise from the earth and water the whole face of the ground—
God does not make it easy to believe. But if you seek Him out eagerly. Hebrews 11:6
Hebrews 11:6 LEB
Now without faith it is impossible to please him, for the one who approaches God must believe that he exists and is a rewarder of those who seek him.
There is great reward. Noah was thought to be a fool. God used him despite what the world thought of him. God wants you to be available to serve Him despite the challenges.
Now imagine that despite what you think you know the rain begins to come from the skies. In amazement you look up to these very skies and begin to doubt what you think you know.
God calls to you, follow my commandments. Genesis 6:22
Genesis 6:22 LEB
And Noah did according to all that God commanded him; thus he did.
Because of obedience and faithfulness, a new beginning is dawning. Genesis 9:13-15
Genesis 9:13–15 LEB
My bow I have set in the clouds, and it shall be for a sign of the covenant between me and between the earth. And when I make clouds appear over the earth the bow shall be seen in the clouds. Then I will remember my covenant that is between me and you, and between every living creature, with all flesh. And the waters of a flood will never again cause the destruction of all flesh.
God has established signs for us to see and remember. We take Communion together to remember. God also sees the bow as a reminder of what He has promised. Genesis 9:15-17
Genesis 9:15–17 LEB
Then I will remember my covenant that is between me and you, and between every living creature, with all flesh. And the waters of a flood will never again cause the destruction of all flesh. The bow shall be in the clouds, and I will see it, so as to remember the everlasting covenant between God and between every living creature, with all flesh that is upon the earth.” And God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant which I am establishing between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.”
