Matthew 14:22-33
Matthew 14:22-33
Right after the miracle of the fish and loaves feeding 5000 men not including women and children.
Jesus sends his disciples out on the sea of Galilee towards Capernaum
Jesus sends the crowd away, then goes to spend alone time with God for hours into the night.
3 a.m the disciples are out at sea, oaring for hours going nowhere because the waves are super strong.
Jesus sees them in trouble. So he goes to walk on the water.
Disciples are so warped into fear, they dont recognize that it was Jesus out there. They saw the storm around them. So they thought Jesus was a ghost.
Gutsy Peter says if it is Jesus, let me walk out to you.
So Peter walks on the waves, eyes on Jesus.
Then looks around, begins to fear, and sinks.
Jesus catches him.
Jesus gets back in the boat and the waves stop
First time the disciples claim he was the son of God and worshiped him.
Application - When we are oaring through life and the storms come, waves crash over, do not focus on the trial, the difficult times, the storm…focus on Jesus. He will catch you. He can calm the storm. Sometimes Jesus calms the storm around you, or he calms you in the storm. Have faith and dont shrink back. Because we belong to the faith. And furthermore, as Jesus’ example, go to God, spend time in prayer, escape to be alone with him, and seek him. Look to him, walk on the waves.
