In the previous verses its talking about Christ second coming.
Some forgot that Jesus was the one that destroyed every living things on the earth with water. with the exception of Noah and His family and two of every kind of animal By a flood .
He will destroy the earth by fire next time.
Though maybe some will Mock and ask where is our God. But He is coming back!
He said one day is as 1,000 years to God. He’s coming back
He’s patient and longsuffering because its not His will that any should perish.
2 Peter 3:14 NKJV
Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless;
Our lifestyle and ethic shouldn’t be separate from our eschatology. And it shouldn’t be separate from out theology.
We anticipate His coming when the bride will be with her Groom.
Peter is saying to “make every effort” to be prepared for the new age.
2 Peter 1:10 NKJV
Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble;
Making my election sure means I have zeal (but not void of wisdom), effort, expenditure of energy.
Timothy is told to make every effort to visit Paul before winter.
2 Timothy 4:21 NKJV
Do your utmost to come before winter. Eubulus greets you, as well as Pudens, Linus, Claudia, and all the brethren.
We are to make every effort to enter into God’s rest.
Hebrews 4:11 NKJV
Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience.
We are to make every effort to keep the unity of The Spirit .
Ephesians 4:3 NKJV
endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
“Make every effort”- means making something a high priority for which one will expend physical and moral effort.
“When it means to make your election sure”
Elections means the state of being called!
We make these efforts because this is our election.
Back to vs 2 Peter 3:14 “Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless;”
The believer isn’t faultless but we should be blameless.
I think about my daughter trying to form sentences and speak words. Like when she try’s to say Blue Berry but she says Blayboo. Her speech isn’t faultless but its blameless. Its blameless because she’s discovering a new way to communicate
2 Peter 3:18 NKJV
but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.
To grow in grace isn’t subjective, based on experience and emotional happenings.
But its objective related to Peters word knowledge.
2 Peter 1:2–3 NKJV
Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,
2 Peter 1:5–6 (NKJV)
But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge,
to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness,
2 Peter 1:7–8 (NKJV)
to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.
For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Peter 1:20 (NKJV)
knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation,
2 Peter 3:3 (NKJV)
knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts,
This isn’t any knowledge but knowledge of The Lord Jesus Christ.
The word “Grow” is in the present imperative, which could be rendered “continually grow.”
Our faith isn’t stagnant but its continually growing!
Psalm 92:12 NKJV
The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
The wicked spring like the grace, rapid growth but life span is short and very weak.
The righteous growth isn’t very rapid,
But the palm tree sends all its strength upward, and it grows in the desert even in drought. It grows independent of outward circumstances, is made by divine grace to live and thrive where all things else perish.
The godly man aims alone at the glory of God.
The righteous flourish in the most noblest way!
For someone or something to grow, it must be acted upon by an outside power or have the element of life within him or it.
it was something living that could grow because of the element of life within it. This growth, however, was not because of any special ability of the seeds, but because of the quality of life so implanted by God Himself.
So this growth is a work of God.
The only growth we can have in and within ourselves is a advancement of evil.
