Exegesis

Nestle-Aland Greek New Testament, 28th Edition (Chapter 12)
καὶ τῇ ὑπερβολῇ τῶν ἀποκαλύψεων. °διὸ ἵνα μὴ ὑπεραίρωμαι,
ἐδόθη μοι σκόλοψ τῇ σαρκί, ἄγγελος ⸀σατανᾶ,
ἵνα με κολαφίζῃ,
⸋ἵνα μὴ ὑπεραίρωμαι⸌*. 8 
ὑπὲρ τούτου τρὶς τὸν κύριον παρεκάλεσα
ἵνα ἀποστῇ ἀπʼ ἐμοῦ*.
9 καὶ εἴρηκέν μοι·*
ἀρκεῖ σοι ἡ χάρις μου,
ἡ γὰρ δύναμις ⸆ ἐν ἀσθενείᾳ ⸀τελεῖται.
Ἥδιστα οὖν μᾶλλον καυχήσομαι ἐν ταῖς ἀσθενείαις °μου,
ἵνα ἐπισκηνώσῃ ἐπʼ ἐμὲ ἡ δύναμις τοῦ Χριστοῦ*.
10 διὸ εὐδοκῶ ἐν ἀσθενείαις*, ἐν ὕβρεσιν, ⸀ἐν ἀνάγκαις, ἐν διωγμοῖς ⸁καὶ στενοχωρίαις, ὑπὲρ Χριστοῦ·
ὅταν γὰρ ἀσθενῶ,
τότε δυνατός εἰμι*.
Passage Outline (frame out how the passage goes)
I. Paul narrates his struggle with weakness and Discomfort preventing him from being conceited
A. A thorn was given to his flesh
B. Paul prays they be taken away
II. The Lord encourages Paul
A. My power is made perfect in weakness
III. Paul Can now boast in his weakness
A. He is content with weakness, insults, hardships, etc...
B. Demonstrates the strength from God through his weakness
Syntax
Clauses: Look at verbs and determine if they are finite or infinite verbs. Then decide if they are dependent or independent verbs. Set each clause on its own line and move the dependent clauses to the right.
Conjunctions: A lot of INA clauses which means that they are dependent clauses. The clauses set the phrases as dependent or independent clauses.
Context: We need to know what it is actually saying.
