Confidence is such a valuable part of our daily walk. But we need to be careful where we get our confidence from? Are you building it on your resume or from God’s call

Psalm 18:47–50 AMP
The God Who avenges me and subdues peoples under me, Who delivers me from my enemies; yes, You lift me up above those who rise up against me; You deliver me from the man of violence. Therefore will I give thanks and extol You, O Lord, among the nations, and sing praises to Your name. Great deliverances and triumphs gives He to His king; and He shows mercy and steadfast love to His anointed, to David and his offspring forever.
David has a confidence that has always baffled me.
The only one out of the entire nation that was willing to go after a giant
Fought a bear and a lion and won
Was known for being a valiant warrior over throwing Kingdoms.
I admired his conquered qualities
I’ve asked so many times where did this confidence that he have come from?
I thought I figured it out
His Resume
So many of us are trying to base our confidence
My resume with my wife
The resume of the guy I partied with back in L.A. in 2005
But further examination shows David didn’t start with a fantastic resume to build confidence off of
He was left out
1 Samuel 16:6–11 AMP
When they had come, he looked on Eliab [the eldest son] and said, Surely the Lord’s anointed is before Him. But the Lord said to Samuel, Look not on his appearance or at the height of his stature, for I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees; for man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart. Then Jesse called Abinadab and made him pass before Samuel. But Samuel said, Neither has the Lord chosen this one. Then Jesse made Shammah pass by. Samuel said, Nor has the Lord chosen him. Jesse made seven of his sons pass before Samuel. And Samuel said to Jesse, The Lord has not chosen any of these. Then [he] said to Jesse, Are all your sons here? [Jesse] said, There is yet the youngest; he is tending the sheep. Samuel said to Jesse, Send for him; for we will not sit down to eat until he is here.
When Samuel let Jesse know there was a king amongst his sons Jesse called 7 of the 8
He left out his son David
His dad didn’t even consider him to be good enough to consider
Did David walk with a chip with his shoulder because of it?
He was judged
1 Samuel 17:28 AMP
Now Eliab his eldest brother heard what he said to the men; and Eliab’s anger was kindled against David and he said, Why did you come here? With whom have you left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your presumption and evilness of heart; for you came down that you might see the battle.
Eliab “KNEW DAVID’S HEART”
David looked at how no one was willing to fight the giant and said…
I got next
He was laughed at
1 Samuel 17:33 AMP
And Saul said to David, You are not able to go to fight against this Philistine. You are only an adolescent, and he has been a warrior from his youth.
How many times have you tried to do something and you got laughed at?
STOP TRYING TO PROVE YOURSELF
God showed me where David’s confidence
Psalm 18:1–3 AMP
To the Chief Musician. [A Psalm] of David the servant of the Lord, who spoke the words of this song to the Lord on the day when the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. And he said: I LOVE You fervently and devotedly, O Lord, my Strength. The Lord is my Rock, my Fortress, and my Deliverer; my God, my keen and firm Strength in Whom I will trust and take refuge, my Shield, and the Horn of my salvation, my High Tower. I will call upon the Lord, Who is to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies.
You need to go to the start of the story, not the end
At the start of the story it starts with who GOD is
1 Samuel 16:1 AMP
THE LORD said to Samuel, How long will you mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil; I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite. For I have provided for Myself a king among his sons.
Your beginning of the story is that GOD CHOSE YOU!
Surrender is a scary word
We associate it with failure, defeat, loss of control
When you surrender you have to take direction
