Discussion Questions

In our text, Paul spoke about the message of the cross and how this message was viewed by the world? What is the true "message of the Cross?" Why do some people view the message of the cross as foolishness? How do those who are being saved view the message of the cross?
What is the difference between godly wisdom and worldy wisdom? In what ways has God made foolish the wisdom of this world? What does Paul say that God will do to the wisdom of world?
Paul said, "We preach Christ crucified" (v. 23). Why was this message of the cross a "stumbling block" to some? In what ways was this message the power and wisdom of God to others?
What did Paul mean by saying, "The foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men?" Why do you think the intellectual and affluent often resist the simple message of the gospel?
In what ways does God use the foolish things of the world to shame the wise? How does God use the weak things of the world to shame the strong? According to Paul, why does God do this? In what ways is worldly pride and boasting a sin to confess?
According to Paul (v. 31), what is the one thing that every believer should boast about? Read Galatians 6:14. How do these two verses relate and what do you learn from them?
If you could stand before the world right now and boast of the Lord and of His cross, what things would you say?
